Hello FUSD Staff and Community,

FUSD is getting ready to welcome each student for our first day of instruction on Wednesday, August 17. I thank our staff for their efforts to prepare our schools for the learning, socializing and unlimited growth that starts the moment our students enter campus.

I want to share the updates below to help as we all shift from summer mode to the new or familiar routines of the school year. Please also check your email and our FUSD and school websites regularly for updates, and follow us on Facebook and Twitter to receive news about our students, staff and schools.

I hope you and your loved ones enjoy these final days of summer break.

Thank you all for your continued support for our students, staff and schools.

Reopening School Offices

Our schools offices are reopening to support our students, families and staff as they prepare for the coming school year.

Secondary offices (middle schools, junior and senior highs) reopened this week, and elementary offices will reopen Tuesday, August 9.

Please check school websites and posted signage for hours and further directions.

COVID-19 Updates

FUSD appreciates our community’s continued support to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our schools and facilities. The following protocols will be in place for 2022-23:

  • Parents/Guardians must review the student health screener prior to a student entering FUSD facilities, events or District-operated vehicles.

  • Keep students home while sick! Report student absences for symptoms and/or positive test results to your student’s school office.

    • Refer to the COVID-19 Flowchart for next steps and timelines.

    • If you report a positive test result, you will be contacted by FUSD personnel with more information about your student’s return to school.

  • FUSD will provide testing opportunities to students.

  • Masks are strongly recommended indoors, and are available in school front offices.

  • Visitors/Volunteers to each FUSD facility must check in before entry, and must review a health/symptom screener in addition to any other site-specific entry protocols.

Find information and links to current requirements for FUSD students and staff at www.fremont.k12.ca.us/covid.

At-Home COVID-19 Test Kits

FUSD is participating in a state program to provide free at-home test kits to each preK-12 student (ages 2+) and staff member for use before the first day of school to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The kits will be distributed directly through students’ school sites and employees’ work locations, please look for communication from your school/work site for pick-up times.

Participation in this program is optional. FUSD will not require proof of a negative test for students or staff. However, students or staff with a positive test result, any COVID-19 symptoms, and/or a known exposure to someone with COVID-19 must follow our student flowchart or staff flowchart before returning to campus.

MAZE Registration & Our Handbook

The MAZE window is open now through August 17 in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. MAZE is our registration confirmation process, which must be completed annually to ensure your student’s school has accurate information.

The MAZE process also includes acknowledgment of certain parent/guardian and student rights and responsibilities. Please view our 2022-23 Parent/Guardian & Student Handbook Notice of Rights & Responsibilities for more information.
