Lively Local and Not to be Missed
The library will be hopping starting with the Thursday evening Friends Members Only Book Sale. Because the Friends are really very friendly, you can become a member on the spot for a ridiculously small fee. The sale continues on Saturday from 10-5.
On Friday we will be building our History of Rock float and marching in the parade. If you haven't been in the parade before, it is tremendously fun. All library lovers, rock and roll lovers, book lovers etc. are encouraged to join us. For those of you with a competitive streak, our contingent of adorable preschoolers has made us a regular ribbon winner.
Whipple City marks the beginning of our Libraries Rock summer reading program for kids. Sign up to read fun books, win great prizes and avoid the dreaded Summer Slide.
This year, we will have an official Great American Read voting booth. Find out about what's on the PBS list of America's 100 Best Loved books. Despair over the ones you hate, vote for the ones you love. Share your thoughts on paper or video. Find out what else is going on this summer.
In keeping with the History and Heritage theme this year, the IVH Gill room will be hosting local historical societies all day Saturday in our Community Room. Sandy McReynolds will be conducting her Fire Tour on Saturday afternoon. This is a fascinating look at history through an unusual lens.
