PD Bellarmine Prep

September 2014

Themes for 2014-2015 School Year

As mentioned in the faculty and staff inservice days in August, the Professional Development Team named the theme for this year, Student Learning. We have divided the year into 4 subcategories, or themes. Quarter 1 will focus on Workflow; Quarter 2 assessments; Quarter 3, creative, collaborative, critical thinking and learning; Quarter 4 digital portfolios for evidence of student learning. We will be offering weekly morning and afternoon TLC ( Tech Learning Communities) in the library viewing room. We will feature sessions and discussions on these quarterly themes. Presently, PD team members are scheduled to lead these workshops. However, we strongly encourage those of you who want to lead a session to contact Jody, Ken, Ginny, Frank, Tony or Aaron.

This week we had Ken Brown amaze us with the wonders of Moodle. Next week Ginny White will wow us with Showbie's potential. We sent a schedule for the next few weeks in an earlier email. The instructor for the weekly session will send a reminder, with a more detailed description of the content. You will receive this information on the Wednesday prior to the professional workshop.

For a cost of $2500, Randy will teach a maximum of 30 of your staff how to create instructional videos for the classroom. He will also cover what flipping a classroom is and what the benefits are for this teaching strategy.
