Papermaker Update
News for CHS and our community
Welcome back, Papermakers!
As previous communications have shared, Skyward will open today for families to access. See below for details about our Kick-off events for our students.
We are actively working to improve our communication with you by offering two types of messages. Our CHS Inside Scoop is delivered on Tuesdays and includes our up-to-date, need-to-know information for our school.
This newsletter will come out monthly and will share the "WHY" behind much of what we do here at CHS. For example, moving forward, our Administrators serve specific grade levels.
Mr. Sanford and Dr. Sejkora will work with students enrolled in 9th grade and the teachers whose primary teaching assignment is 9th grade.
Mr. Morris will work with students enrolled in 10th grade and the teachers whose primary teaching assignment is 10th grade.
Mr. Wilde will work with students enrolled in 11th grade and the teachers whose primary teaching assignment is 11th grade.
Mr. Fox will work with students enrolled in 12th grade and the teachers whose primary teaching assignment is 12th grade.
Because the needs of students at each grade level may be different, these focused student support teams are intended to put students at the center of what we do in our daily work at CHS and consider our students at various stages of their high school career.
Keep an eye out for our next edition where you will hear about our school and district goals for the year! Here's to an amazing year, Papermakers.
Sincerely,
Dr. Sejkora

Kick-off Days
As you have probably seen in some communication, we are slowly shifting away from calling our August back-to-school event “orientation,” as it doesn’t fully represent what those days are really about. As a former football coach, I have a hard time not utilizing football analogies. “Kick-Off” is used frequently in sports like football, soccer, and rugby, and symbolizes the start or restart of play.
August 20th
12th Grade - 9AM-11AM
11th Grade - 11:30AM-1:30PM
10th Grade - 2PM-4PM
August 26th
9th Grade
Link Crew Welcome - 9AM-12PM
BBQ - 12PM-1PM
Kick-Off - 1PM-3ish (we’ll stick around until 4PM, just in case)
Last year, 73% of Camas High School students possessed an ASB sticker. ASB stickers are required for all athletes and for students who participate in clubs and other student organizations on campus. Having an ASB sticker provides several benefits to students and CHS. Some examples include: students can get into home athletic events for free, clubs receive money from ASB to help with their events and to be sustainable, ASB fully funds many sports, and many field trips cost are subsidized by ASB. Something else to know - students who receive a lunch benefit may actually receive an ASB card at free or reduced cost. We will never let a financial hardship get in the way of a student having the opportunity to experience all the amazing things Camas High School has to offer.
Keep these benefits in mind as you try to determine whether or not to purchase an ASB card. If your student is involved in a sport or student organization, you have to anyway, but please know that your hard earned money goes to incredible causes. There is so much research out there around the positive impact of student involvement at school, regardless of if you’re a spectator or active participant.
So here we are. Summer is winding down. The ball is on the tee. We can’t wait to see you all at Kick-Off days.
Sincerely,
Mr. Fox
We are adding more College in our High School courses

CHS office moves
Guess what? Some moves have happened at CHS. First of all, School Counselors are all upstairs in the the 700 and 800 wings. This move allows counselors to better connect with students during passing periods and lunches.
This means that our Administrators are now all in the Main Office. Our goal is to ensure that we are able to quickly and courteously assist our students, families, and community by housing all of our school leaders in one location. We aspire to best serve you in a more consistent manner with one central location.
Sincerely,
Mr. Morris
