Waipipi School 2023

Term 1: Monday 20th February

NZEI Paid Union Meeting- day change

We apologise for the confusion caused by the date change. NZEI, have had to make a more local venue for Franklin Schools, and the day is now Tuesday afternoon- not Monday as previously stated.

All Waiuku teachers will be attending a Paid Union Meeting on Tuesday 28th February.

As only support staff are onsite, we would appreciate students being collected from school at 12pm.

No buses will run at midday.

As always, we can cater for a small amount of children onsite if you are not able to collect them at 12pm. They will need to be collected at 2:30pm- with no exceptions.

It would be great if all Room 8 students attended in the morning as we have the local Waiuku Librarian visiting to get us hooked up to their online reading service. Children not at school may miss out on this awesome opportunity.

Reminders:

Disco Skating

Students may bring their skates to school any wet day. We will make sure someone can run this for the students.

Otherwise, if sunny, there will be two skate days a week. Skate days will be every Tuesday and Thursday.

School Uniform:

Students are expected to wear their school uniform hat anytime they are outside the classroom.

Please ensure the students are wearing plain black shorts, tracksuits, skirts or leggings along with their uniform blue polo shirt and fleece. Please: no dark blue items, stripes, dots, sparkles, evident logos, mufti items or jeans.

Accessories

Jewellery: safe earrings (studs, small sleepers) please discuss any necklace requests with Pam or Mrs Brown. (No ankle, waist or wrist bracelets, nose piercings or rings)

Sun safety:

As well as a sunhat students are also welcome to wear sunglasses when they are playing outside.

Students are strongly encouraged to have their own sunscreen and apply it before they go outside.

Students are expected to have their togs and towels each day for the swimming programme which is part of the PE curriculum. If your child is not able to take part in swimming, please provide a note for the classroom teacher.
