Looking for Alaska

by John Green

"That's why I'm going. So I don't have to wait until I die to start seeking a Great Perhaps" (5).

Inspired by the last words of poet François Rabelais, Miles Halter decides to seek his own "Great Perhaps" at Culver Creek Boarding School in Alabama. Away from his parents in Florida and his non-existent social life at public school, Miles befriends an odd bunch of characters that drag, lead, and follow him into a better understanding of life, death, and immortality. They also drink, and smoke, and prank, and all the things that you would expect mostly unsupervised teenagers to do.

Possible Movie?

John Green's later novels Paper Towns and The Fault in Our Stars have been adapted to the screen. Thanks to the success of those movies, there has been some renewed interest in the possibility of seeing Looking for Alaska on the big screen.
