Blended Learning Center Locations Updates
Queen Creek
We have an executed lease, a certificate of occupancy, and keys to the building!! We will be working with Keith Johnson this week to address all IT needs and a timeline for when the site will be ready to serve our online platforms. BL Admin and Kelly will work together to order furniture and supplies needed for launch. We are so excited and are working hard to make this site available to students as soon as possible!
Chandler Boys and Girls Club
We are in the final stages of negotiations for this location. We are hopeful for an Early October opening.
Tucson
We are in the final stages of negotiations for this location. We are hopeful for an Early to Mid October opening.
West Valley
We have two locations that would meet our needs and are in the early stage of negotiations on both locations. We will decide which location best fits all of our needs and then move forward with the final negotiations for that location. We are anticipating a Late November or possible December opening depending on the negotiation process and the level of tenant improvements required.
one-n-ten (LGBTQ Community)
This location will be moving into a new building at the end of December, most likely over the Winter Break. It will still be located in downtown Phoenix within a few miles of the current location. We will be able to grow to between 25-30 students at our new location. More details to come as we receive them from one-n-ten.
Kingman
Open and serving students but at capacity with current student to staff ratio and are currently placing new enrollments on a wait list until additional staff have been hired.

Classroom Management Tip of the Week
Tip for the week:
Establish routines
If you have a chaotic class, keep things predictable. Post the day's schedule/rules and clearly state the consequences if rules are not followed. Students need to know what is expected and what the consequences will be if they do not follow or adhere to rules/expectations. Make it fun! Create a theme and a way to incorporate incentives for good behavior as well. Let's take some time this week to discuss classroom management strategies that we could implement across all sites so we are consistent across our BL program as a whole.

ALP Updates
News from the ALP Corner
This is the fourth week for ALP classes. We are in the process of learning and building!
If you have any students you would like to recommend for ALP, please log in your referral at this link for the 2016/2017 school year. http://goo.gl/forms/s7uB5R4esU
Students referred at this time would join in the 2nd quarter classes.
This is information that will be coming out in the Bobcat Bulletin regarding Robotics. (This is not limited to ALP)
The Robots Are Here!! Come join in on the Fun and Excitement of Robotics!
A new school year has started! What a great time to join in the fun with robots and programming them!
AZVA will have VEX-IQ Programming Classes online for Virtual Robotics. You will have an opportunity to learn the programming, and see your robot follow your directions virtually. See the robot take turns, go over obstacles, and carry objects to where you want them. These activities will prepare you for the real physical robots.
We will meet at blended learning centers as they open. Teams will practice and prepare for competition. This competition is geared to Middle School, but if you have a real passion and are in 5th grade, you could be on the team.
To join, please fill in this survey, https://goo.gl/forms/G40WaArEfZ6XIgGn2

K12 Training Updates
Please review these quick updates below from K12 Training.
2. Assignments Coming Next Week on Thursday
On Thursday, Sept. 15 two Curriculum assignments will be made to both New and Returning Teachers:
National Professional Development SY 1617
K12 Online Tools Updates SY 1617
Both Curriculums are intended for in-year support and will remain on Current Training for the entire year--additional electives may being added. Completion will be available in May 2017.
3. Teacher Recognition through the OSk12ARs
This monthly program to find and share outstanding examples of direct instruction has launched for SY 1617. See the attached announcement for details to share with teachers.
4. Interface Tour Enrollment
Interface Tour is the first of the four classes in Class Connect Basics VNST. Users cannot enroll in the other three classes until Interface Tour has been attended and marked complete—so it's important not to delay the completion of this gatekeeper class. Next week's three sections of enrollment in Interface Tour still have plenty of space. Use the attached spreadsheet to filter for the list of new hires at your school who have completed this class since July 2016. (Want to run this report yourself? Choose the report "Training Progress by Content" and search for Interface Tour. Constrain the dates to this school year.)
5. VNST or VNTSP??
VNST (Virtual New Staff Training) is available in seven paths and is automatically assigned based on Job Titles containing the word "New." VNST is completed in the first 30 days. VNTSP (Virtual New Teacher Support Program) is assigned only to New Teachers. These assignments also appear when the New Teacher training account is created, but should not be started until VNST is completed. VNTSP is for in-year support. Please continue to coach new teachers to finish all VNST (30 day) Curriculums before beginning VNTSP (in-year support) Curriculums.
