Tanny McGregor - Keynote
Tanny McGregor consults internationally as a keynote speaker, workshop presenter and literacy coach inside K-8 classrooms, on topics including reading comprehension strategies, genre studies, and teaching abstract concepts through concrete ways. Tanny shares imaginative, inspiring, and practical teaching strategies that engage and motivate teachers and students alike.
A published author, Tanny wrote Comprehension Connections: Bridges to Strategic Reading and Genre Connections: Lessons to Launch Literary and Nonfiction Text. She contributes to the Heinemann title, Comprehension Going Forward: Where We Are and What's Next. Tanny is currently working on a new book that tackles tough-to-teach instructional concepts in the literacy classroom.
Tanny has been teaching and learning in Cincinnati, Ohio for over 25 years. She taught full-time in grades 1-5 and has served as a literacy coach and gifted intervention specialist in grades K-12. Tanny has facilitated hundreds of lab classrooms visits and has taught as many demonstration lessons in classrooms across the country. With creativity and a can-do spirit, she has helped hundreds of thousands of practitioners improve how they reach readers.
Angela Gunter - Morning Speaker
Dr. Angela Gunter, NBCT, teaches AP English Language at Daviess County High School, is Dean of Liberal Arts, and serves as a hybrid Teacher Leader on Special Assignment for KDE. She holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership, leads the Kentucky Student Growth Project, is Kentucky ELA Content Lead with Student Achievement Partners, is a state CTEPS and national NMSI trainer, and a 2015-2017 Hope Street Group teacher fellow. Angie has helped plan local and regional ECET2 convenings and is a past president and current treasurer for the Kentucky Council of Teachers of English. She’s been involved with the Activating Teacher Leadership Institute and is a member of the Innovative Teacher Leader cohort with The Fund for Transforming Education. She is also a Candidate Support Provider for teachers pursuing National Board teaching certification.
