Tech Talk
December 2017
Let's Collaborate!
I would love to talk with you (or your team!) about incorporating technology into your classroom in ways that are effective and meaningful for you and your students. Check out my instructional technology coaching menu, then stop by the tech bar, email me at paigeh2@norman.k12.ok.us, or sign up for a tech talk at a time that works for you.
If you're doing something cool in your classroom- technology related or not- I would love to know so I can come learn from you!

TECHIE TIGERS
RACHELLE JOHNSON, BIOLOGY
Rachelle Johnson's biology classes made videos to demonstrate Passive and Active Transport. Students made Stop-Motion animation videos, animated videos with PowToon, and live action movies with iMovie and Clips. Students were highly engaged and made connections to their own interests, such a drawing and music. For more information about how you can use video tools in your classroom, sign up for a tech talk or stop by the tech bar!
GET IT: Using technology as a tool in instruction

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
Our ultimate goal is to MINIMIZE missed instructional time for tech issues. You are welcome to send students to the tech bar whenever they need help, but if a tech issue arises at an inconvenient time, here are some troubleshooting suggestions.
- Hold down power button for ten seconds
- Check screen brightness
- Plug in to a charger
Can't connect to internet?
- Check for and delete rogue extensions (anything that doesn't say Google)
- Try a different browser
All else fails?
- Restart- turn if off and back on again!
- Come to the Tech Bar!

Desmos
Desmos is a free online graphing calculator. It can be added as a Chrome extension or used as a mobile app. In addition to graphing both equations and inequalities, it also features lists, plots, regressions, interactive variables, graph restriction, simultaneous graphing, piecewise function graphing, polar function graphing, and two types of graphing grids — among other features! With an account, teachers can create modules for classroom use.
VR Math
VR Math is an interactive, educational mobile application that helps students to understand 3D geometry, graphs, and vectors via virtual and augmented reality. If your students are struggling to understand solids drawn on a whiteboard, download this app and be their virtual guide. There is both a free and paid version. An individual paid version is currently on sale for $9.99.
Equatio
Equatio is a Chrome web extension that makes it easier to create and insert mathematical symbols and expressions, as well as scientific formulas when using Google Docs, Forms, Slides, Sheets, and Drawings.
