Remote Learning
We have completed our first 8 days of remote learning. I am grateful for all of the support you have provided and flexibility you have shown as we navigate this unknown territory together.
The activities assigned during the first 8 days covered curriculum that was previously taught. Next week's lessons will introduce new skills and concepts, including grammar, word study, and handwriting.
I hope the students are becoming increasingly comfortable and working mostly independently. I am trying to get a feel as to how well the 2nd graders are faring. I do not wish to overwhelm them, so I would appreciate any feedback you might provide. I am curious about their independence and the workload; is it too much, too little, or the right amount. Moving forward, any assignment that is returned as a "draft" is expected to be corrected based on the comments provided.
I am working on fine-tuning my work schedule from home. Please know that I will have one hour of "office hours" in the morning, and another in the afternoon. My goal is to be available for those that get started early and those that work in the afternoon. Therefore, I plan on returning correspondence immediately between the hours of 9am-10am and 1:30pm and 2:30pm. I have also carved out two 90-minute blocks, during which, I will check assignments. I will continue to do my best to post to the students twice a day to check-in and read to them.
Your children are amazing and resilient. I am so proud of how well they have adapted to our remote learning format. I look forward to hearing from I as begin to schedule next week's lessons.
