Week 17

We are winding down and working hard! This week, progress folders will be coming home on Wednesday. We are scheduled to take our 2nd district benchmark testing Thursday and Friday of this week. We are not stressing over these, but striving to do the very best we can. They are practice, but we do and the district does look at the data from these.

Be on the lookout for a sign up genius link in another email from us so we can prepare for our holiday brunch on December 18th! We appreciate all what you do for your students at home and for helping make our classroom a success!

4.NF.3aUnderstand addition and subtraction of fractions as joining and separating parts referring to the same whole.

4.NF.3bDecompose a fraction into a sum of fractions with the same denominator in more than one way, recording each decomposition by an equation. Justify decompositions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model. Examples: 3/8 = 1/8 + 1/8 + 1/8 ; 3/8 = 1/8 + 2/8 ; 2 1/8 = 1 + 1 + 1/8 = 8/8 + 8/8 + 1/8

Teacher + Parent + Child Working Together = A Successful Year in Fourth Grade

Dear Parents & Students-

We are excited that we will be working with you and your child this year! We will work hard this year to meet each child’s needs, no matter their ability. We will do our best to help your child to develop socially, emotionally, and academically. We firmly believe each child can reach his or her potential if he or she is willing to do their BEST! We are looking forward to a very exciting year here at Shayne!

Box Tops for Education

We are collecting box tops. Please cut and save these for our school. Place in a baggie and send in with your child. We will have two collection periods. So clip and save those box tops so our school can earn free money.
