IMPORTANT Reminders:
Exchange Day Hours
Please remember, Exchange Days are required!
The board-approved 2021-2022 GISD Academic Calendar includes 3 staff exchange days (18 hours). The 2021-2022 exchange days are November 22, 23, and 24 of 2021.
If an employee opts out of completing exchange time or does not complete the required amount of hours, those exchange days/that time will be recaptured by the district.
The deadline to complete exchange days was July 30, 2021. If you missed this deadline, you will still need to complete your exchange day hours if you do not wish that time to be recaptured by the district. Hours have to be earned prior to when they are exchanged (November 22, 23, 24). In order to achieve, hours must be earned outside of contract time (evenings and weekends) in order to count. Personal leave may not be used to complete these hours. Personal leave cannot be used in exchange for the 3 days either. The 3 days in November are professional development days, therefore, professional development hours are the required as substitution (exchange) for that time.
If hours are earned through in-district workshops, they will tabulate automatically in an employee's Strive portfolio. If employees complete out-of-district training, certificates need to clearly indicate a date/time stamp to ensure they adhere to the off-contract expectation. If a certificate only lists the date, it needs to be a weekend day in order to be approved.

In addition, we will be offering additional GISD sessions to help individuals achieve their missing hours. A schedule of training will be sent out soon.
