NGSS Mentor Program Supports Science Curriculum Learning

Ashley Cooper and Rhonda Frohn are passionate about science, and collaboration. Both are Thousand Oaks High School science teachers, and they can now also be found on elementary school campuses across the Conejo Valley. The reason? The new CVUSD Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Mentor Program, a program they spearheaded.

The NGSS Mentor Program is a teacher-driven and teacher-dependent collaboration of secondary science educators who are dedicated to sharing their knowledge and experiences with elementary colleagues in an effort to support science instruction across K-12 grade levels. Read more

Sycamore Canyon School's Child Care Students Host Successful "Kids Caring for Kids" Campaign

Children helping children is at the core of a new philanthropic campaign underway at Sycamore Canyon School’s Child Care program.

Throughout the month of December Sycamore’s Child Care students, their families, and staff members actively collected donations for children admitted at Los Robles Hospital Pediatrics Unit, PICU and Emergency Room – with any extra items being shared with those same units at St. John’s Hospital.


The Child Care program collected 135 gifts total including new stuffed animals, coloring books/crayons, board games, puzzles, fuzzy socks with rubber grips, restaurant gift cards, books of all types, and small blankets. Read More

Haley Carroll recognizes the diverse needs of all students. She is a Technology and Spanish teacher, and a nine year veteran of Sycamore Canyon School, where she uses a variety of instructional strategies to engage the next generation of leaders. Read More

Cameron White creates a caring, and welcoming classroom environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, celebrate successes, and feel genuinely cared for. He is a Math, and CTE teacher at Conejo Valley High School, and a 17-year veteran educator with the District. Read More

Weathersfield Elementary’s Stephenie Scott Celebrated as CVUSD’s October Teacher of the Month

Stephenie Scott has created a technologically savvy, engaging learning environment for Weathersfield Elementary School students. Over the last 14 years she has challenged students with creative, hands-on and well organized projects and lessons. She is a warm, caring, and generous second grade teacher – and the District along with the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce are proud to honor her as the October CVUSD Teacher of the Month! Our TK-12 schools feature supportive and enriching learning environments with premier academic, extra-curricular and athletic opportunities that inspire students to pursue their passions. All applications received before January 31, 2019 at 5pm will receive priority.

Three New Trustees Join the Board of Education for Conejo Valley Unified School District

The Board of Education for the Conejo Valley Unified School District formally welcomed three newly-elected trustees in December. Jenny Fitzgerald, Cindy Goldberg, and Bill Gorback were sworn in as trustees by Superintendent Dr. Mark McLaughlin at a special ceremony prior to the start of the Tuesday, December 11th regularly scheduled Board Meeting. New Board President, Vice President & Clerk Chosen via Nomination, Majority Vote Process

During the Tuesday, December 11, 2018 Board of Education Meeting for the Conejo Valley Unified School District the Board took part in its annual reorganization of office positions.Through their nomination and election process the following Board Members were voted into office positions:

  • Dr. Betsy Connolly, Board President
  • Cindy Goldberg, Board Vice President
  • Bill Gorback, Board Clerk

The Board Members will hold these office positions for one year.

California Launches Updated 2018 School Dashboard with More Information, Parent-Friendly Upgrades

The California Department of Education (CDE) and the State Board of Education (SBE) today launched the second version of the California School Dashboard a website that gives parents, students and educators access to valuable school and district data. The 2018 Dashboard includes two new metrics for evaluating school and district performance and a new, user-friendly look that makes complex data easier to understand. Read more
