The Cougar Connection
A Corporation Wide Newsletter
~From Mr. Gaff's Desk~
The success of the basketball and wrestling programs has sparked enthusiasm throughout the community. The excitement (and the 60° weather) has helped to eliminate some of the winter blues. The amount of student, staff, and community support has been awesome. I hope many of you have the opportunity to experience the excitement this weekend. GO COUGARS!!!
As we transition from the excitement of athletics to the high stress assessments, stay positive. Although the testing process has been frustrating over the past several years, we need to encourage and motivate our students to try their best. Significant improvement in test scores may help to encourage parents of students from surrounding districts to look at what CN is doing differently. Central Noble has done a great job in the past at retaining home school and out of district students once we get them inside the door. Unfortunately, it is difficult to convince people to make the jump. We simply have to find ways to get them to give us a chance.
Finally, CN is going to begin a marketing committee. The committee is going to focus on ways to promote Central Noble to potential students that live within and outside of our district. Simply put, each student we gain increases district funding by approximately $5100 (distributed ½ in the fall and ½ in the spring). From fall to spring, district enrollment dropped 20 students or in budget terms, our funding dropped more than $50,000. How do we make up for these students? If you have an idea, please contact Jamie (Ext. 1000) and join the committee.
Thanks for all you do for Central Noble.
