DOLPHIN SPLASH
Volume 18: January 9 - 13, 2023
CONGRATULATIONS!
El Marino Elementary is being recognized as a 2023 California Distinguished School. This is an exceptional achievement.
The California Distinguished Schools program recognizes schools for their excellent work in one of two categories: closing the achievement gap and achieving exceptional student performance.
NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Dear El Marino Families,
I am happy to announce that we have hired a new Assistant Principal, Paul Karaiakobian. He comes to us from Santa Monica Malibu School District with many years of experience. Mr. Karaiakoubian was most recently a middle school math teacher, but also a Lead Coach for staff in both math and Science. He will be starting Monday, January 12th, and we are excited to welcome Mr. Karaiakoubian to the El Marino family.
Happy New Year!
Mrs. Saavedra

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
El Marino PTA wants to say a very Happy Lunar New Year to all our families celebrating The Year of the Rabbit! This is a worldwide celebration as Asian countries and the Asian diaspora celebrate across the globe. We are very grateful that our El Marino Japanese Cultural Heritage Committee (JCHC) worked really hard to create a beautiful Oshôgatsu display in the cafetorium hallway for the students to view and learn more about the Japanese New Year traditions.
El Marino PTA will be sponsoring an assembly to share a little bit about Lunar New Year with traditional music and a Lion Dance on January 18. We hope the students enjoy this festive tradition!
Below is some more information about the Lunar New Year Celebrations:
