Early voting has begun! If Prop A and any combination of Props B, C, and D are approved by voters, it is projected there will be a 2-cent impact for the 24-25 school year. Prop B includes funds for technology devices for all schools. These items are funded through shorter-term bonds that align with their lifespan, typically 3-5 years. Prop C includes funds for ag barns and elementary PE classrooms/gyms. The 16 schools without designated gyms transition the cafeteria to activity space between mealtimes. Prop D includes funds for a covered, outdoor pool and Natatorium mechanical updates. Since the Natatorium was constructed in 2008, Conroe ISD has grown by approximately 25,000 students and the University Interscholastic League has added water polo as a recognized sport. Students are encouraged to wear pink on Tuesday, October 31 to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness!

On November 10, the author Susan Stevens Crummel will be visiting our school to speak to each grade level. Mrs. Crummel has written many books for children including The Donkey Egg, Help Me, Mr. Mutt, and Cook-a-Doodle-Doo.

Powell students are already big fans of Mrs. Crummel's books, so her visit will be an excellent reading and writing motivation. We are looking forward to hosting her next month!

Testing Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or campus staff. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher. Referrals will be accepted October 2 - December 15, 2023. You may request a referral form from the front office or your child's teacher. Beginning Monday, October 2nd:

With the exception of service animals, dogs and other pets are not allowed on school grounds during arrival and dismissal. This is for the safety of our students and staff.

We still welcome dogs in vehicles in the car rider line, but will no longer allow leashed dogs on our sidewalks on school property.

Parent Access Center (PAC) is the CISD system for parents which provides online access to all your child’s class assignments, assignment grades, test grades, as well as attendance, discipline, progress reports, and report cards. If you currently have a Parent Access Center account, there is no need to renew your account as you have had to do in previous years. Parents can register for a PAC account from the Conroe ISD home page under the Student/Parent link. Student data will not be available until school begins.

All SMS messages received from the Conroe ISD District Office and Powell Elementary will begin with "Conroe ISD:" and come from the subscribe code 67587. If you have not yet opted-in to receive SMS messages, you can do so at any time throughout the school year by texting "Y" to 67587.
