Summer Reading Programs
Kids will take home an AISD online resources bookmark again during our last visit. The reverse side of this bookmark will have resources for eBooks as well as information about summer reading programs that reward students for tracking their reading. research has shown that in order to prevent the "Summer Slide" students only need to read 6 books on their reading level.
APL:
Students set their own goal, read, log reading, trade reading log for a book at their local branch!

An additional program exists through Scholastic, but it requires teachers to register their students. If you're interested, please visit the link above. They've even got letters in English and Spanish to send home so that parents know what to do. This program earns kids digital rewards, but I'm not quite sure what those may be.
Please encourage students to visit the public library during Summer. Ms. Reyna, the new youth librarian, is planning to visit 4th and 5th grades soon to tell us about the host of programs offered at Little Walnut Branch! They're continuing a MineCraft Club as well as LegoLab!! If you are interested in sharing the May calendar with your students and families, feel free.
