Short Term Changes: Blizzards
By Riley Miller (2nd)
The Effects of a Blizzard
It only takes a day or two for the environment to recover from a blizzard, but it depends on how long the blizzard lasts the longer it lasts, the longer it could take for organisms to recover from it. Some changes that organisms have are some animals go into hibernation or people stay inside their houses and don't go outside. A way an animal might adapt is it can stay warm if it has thick fur and long, strong legs to walk through the snow.
Some organisms in the winter:
Walking in a Blizzard
These people are waling on the roads during a Blizzard. They are trying to keep warm and they are using umbrellas to guard their faces from the snow and depending on how bad the Blizzard is, they might block off the roads and tell people to stay inside their homes.
Animal Hibernating
Almost all animals hibernate in the winter. They have to keep warm to stay alive! Some can't handle the harsh weather, especially during a snow storm.
Trees in a Blizzard
When there is a Blizzard everything gets covered in snow! It's always super cold!
