Celebration Books

This program allows you to recognize special achievements and occasions for the students or staff. The cost is $15, and you may pick out your book in the library. The new book will have a personalized page, and be added to the library collection. All books will be announced during BASH, and your child will be the first to check out the book! If you wish to donate a book, you may pick up a form in the library or print it from our website.

Parent Center

Did you know... parents can have a library account too! Parents may check out up to 10 books for 2 weeks at our library.

*Ask us about a Parent Account if you do not have one!

4th Grade Tournament of Titles

The Tournament of Titles was a blast last year, and this year we have plans to make it even better. The upcoming 4th graders received a summer reading list for all of the Charlie May Simon books for this school year.

At R.E Baker our 4th graders celebrate “March Book Madness” to vote for the state book award. To participate students read books from the Charlie May Simon list and answer comprehension questions to earn a basketball. It takes seven correct answers to earn a basketball. These basketballs are placed on CMS posters. Each 4th grade classroom will have a team, and the students with the most basketballs will be eligible. The school wide tournament is scheduled for April. It will be followed with a “Battle of the Schools,” where R.E. Baker’s winning team will compete against Central Park Elementary and Willowbrook Elementary in May.

This tournament is a fun way to encourage our 4th graders to read these wonderful books. The key word for us in this event is “FUN!” We appreciate you helping us to generate excitement for this exciting reading adventure!

*This program was the winner of the Outstanding Media Program of the Year for the Arkansas Association of Instruction Media.

Book Fairs

The library has two book fairs during the year. One is in the fall, and the other is in the spring. The money raised is used to purchase books that support the curriculum, and books that the teachers and students have requested.
