Addams Family Newsletter
November 17, 2015
Thank you all for your continued hard work and effort at this time of year! I know that completing report cards, preparing for conferences and all the day-to-day responsibilities with our students can be a daunting task!
In an effort to create an avenue for staff to recognize each other for positive things, I’ve created the “Addams Spotlight.” I encourage you to take 10 seconds to recognize other colleagues. Click on the link below to add comments: http://bit.ly/1yetiP5

Student Growth Goals: If you haven't done so already, please refer to the SLO Meeting email I sent you last week and select a date and time for us to meet.
- Introduction to SLO document (MDE resources)
- Teacher creates two goals in two different subject areas.
- Specials teachers create two goals for their subject area.
- Teachers choose which tools to use to measure their goals: AIMS web, DRA, NWEA, MLPP, Math pre/post test, etc; two data sources for each goal.
Lunch: Please be sure to take accurate lunch counts each day for the next day so that we have the correct amount of lunches available to students in both of our lunch times. Check the Addams Game Plan, within the Schedules folder to view our lunch schedule for the 2015-2016 school year.
Parent Teacher Conferences: Please remember to provide an electronic copy of your conference schedule to me! Also, please let me know if there are any conferences you need me to attend. Our PTA will be providing dinner and dessert for conferences.

Please have students come down to Shannon's room with their Addams Bucks. We have prizes for 1 and 2 full bucks. Two students will be in charge of running the Bucks trade in.
Our next trade in will be this Friday, November 20th.
Haven/Erin's Law Update
HAVEN/ERIN'S LAW UPDATE
This information will be shared with parents the first week of December:
When are the lessons:
December 17: Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th
How long are the lessons:
45-60 minutes. Teachers remain in the classroom during the entire presentation. (Parents asked about this at the information night.)
All sessions will occur in the specific teacher's classroom.
All questions/concerns should be sent to Keith Doody email@example.com. Email is best.
If a parent wants to review material ahead of time, the materials are at the instruction office @ the board office. The parent should call ahead so the instruction office can accommodate them.
Information can be found at the following links:
Erin’s Law is named after childhood sexual assault survivor, author, speaker and activist Erin Merryn, who is the founder and President of Erin’s Law. Erin's Law was passed in Michigan in 2013.
Daisy Tells a Secret is a supplemental video shown during the Helping Kids, Help Themselves K-2 Lesson.
HAVEN is Oakland County’s only comprehensive program for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, HAVEN provides shelter, counseling, advocacy and educational programming to nearly 30,000 people each year.
Presentation by Haven and the Royal Oak Health Advisory Committee to the Board of Education. Presentation begins at about 6:30 into the meeting.
Students that have been opted out will be working on an academic assignment related to their classwork. I will ask you for these but I imagine a reading assignment for upper el will work and lower el can advise me on what is best.
Tentative location: Main Office Conference Room
