Earthquake PBL
About Earthquake PBL
The earthquake PBL was a project that we did. The project assignment was to build a house for Tony Stark that would withstand a major earthquake. We worked on the earthquake PBL for a couple months. During the period of working on the earthquake PBL, me and my group were able to learn a lot about earthquake safety.
Driving Question
For this project, we were given an essential question from Ms. Smith. The purpose of the essential question was to help us get ideas about how to build the house. The question that Ms. Smith gave to us follows: How can we, as structural engineers, construct a two story house for Tony Stark that can withstand seismic activity in California.
Design of House
While we built the house, we figured out where the safest city in California is. By safest I mean the city that has the least amount of major earthquakes. The city that me and my team picked was Shasta. The materials that we were able to use were straws, popsicle sticks, clay, and string. The picture above is the drawing of our house.
30 Hands Project
About 30 Hands
The project 30 hands was a project we did that taught us about global warming, climate change, etc. During this project, we used the information that we learned in class along with information from the internet. We used this information to make a nine slide project. We explained what each slide meant by recording our voice.
What I Learned
During the 30 hands project, I was able to learn a lot of things. Some of these things included learning about global warming, climate change, how humans damage the world, etc. We learned how humans damage the world, one example of how humans damage the world is the burning of fossil fuels.
What I Enjoyed
While doing the 30 hands project I really enjoyed learning a lot of information about how humans are damaging the earth. I enjoyed learning about this because it gave me a perspective on how much humans are damaging our earth. It also taught me how I could reduce damaging the earth. I could do this by walking over riding in a car.

Invention Convention
About Invention Convention
The invention convention is a project that we're doing. The assignment for this project is to build an invention or innovation that will solve an environmental problem. Some of the problems that you could choose were reducing the burning of fossil fuels or reduce the amount of trash emitted from humans.
What Problem Our Innovation is Solving
Me and my partner Morgan decided that we wanted to solve the problem of endangering ocean animals. Me and Morgan wanted to do this because we both feel that endangering ocean animals from oil spills is very wrong. Oil spills are very harmful to animals in the ocean because there are some substances in oil that is poisonous.
How Our Innovation is Solving It
Me and Morgan's project solves the problem of endangering ocean animals because we use a solar powered boat that pulls a screen with cotton attached to it. The cotton on this screen picks up the oil from the ocean. It does this because the oil attracts to the cotton and sticks onto the cotton.
