Hello Sachems! Welcome Back!
I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend! I want to take a moment and thank the many students who participated in the Jimmy Fund Walk on Sunday! It was so amazing to know that over 100 student leaders from Middleborough High School led the Lunch Stop at the Jimmy Fund Walk on Sunday. The team served over 7,000 sandwiches and cheered on the thousands of walkers who were supporting the fight to cure cancer. What a great day! Also, a special note of congratulations to the Class of 2021 for an outstanding Car Show on Saturday. Job well done!! As we complete the first month of the school year…reflect on the goals that you set for yourself and see if you are keeping that focus for success this year! We have a very busy week ahead! So, here we go!!
A special note of thanks and appreciation...
- Congratulations to all of the fall sports teams for the incredible seasons that are happening for our teams. Sachem Pride is everywhere. Continue to tell our story!
- A thank you to Shannon Hurley who will represent Middleborough at the MASC President’s Dinner this Thursday evening at the MSAA/MIAA Building. It will be a great evening.
- Congratulations to the cast and crew of the STW Fall Show! Excited to see your rehearsals begin and counting down the days until the opening night!
- Thank you to the MHS Band, Concert Choir and Cheerleaders for making the annual AP Kick-Off Rally such a great time. You are an essential piece to that event and thankful for your help.
- Thank you to everyone who make our guests feel so welcomed on Friday at our Community Service Fair. Your engagement with the numerous service learning opportunities was awesome.

Character Strong - Advisory Lesson #2 - Community Building
Our next Advisory for Character Strong will take place on Monday, September 23, 2019. As we complete our monthly theme focusing on Commitment…our Advisory will focus on building a better community at MHS. I am thankful for your engagement.
College Planning Night - Wednesday, September 25, 2019 - 6:30pm
For seniors applying to college or thinking about it…we are hosting a College Planning Night that is “must” in your planning! This very important event will begin at 6:30pm in the MHS Auditorium on Wednesday, September 25, 2019! Important timeline information will be given! Please share this with your parents/guardians!
Class of 2020 - Senior Class Trip to Florida
The deadline to sign-up to be a part of the Class of 2020 Senior Class Trip to Florida over April vacation. You do not want to miss out on this great way to end your senior year. Please see me with any questions. Literature regarding the trip is available in the main office. Deadline to sign up is Friday, September 27, 2019.
Bring Your Voice to MHS - Join School Council
If you are interested in helping shape our school, then consider being a student representative to the MHS School Council. Please see me this week if you are interested. Our first meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. This committee is open to any student in Grades 9 - 12. Thank you for your consideration.
Save the Date - Parent-Teacher Conferences - Wednesday, October 9 & Thursday, October 10
- Progress Reports for Quarter 1 will be distributed on Tuesday, October 8, 2019. It is important to take a moment and reflect on this document and see if you are meeting your goals. It is very important to keep the eye on the prize…and reach for success. I will be reviewing Progress Reports and expect to see excellence…that is what Sachems do!
- On Monday, September 30, 2019, you will receive the appointment sheets for you to make appointments for your parents/guardians for Parent-Teacher Conferences, which will be held on Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10, 2019. Please be sure to take that appointment sheet and bring it to your teachers.
Oak Point Yard Sale - Saturday, October 5, 2019
The residents of Oak Point will be hosting their annual Yard Sale on Saturday, October 5, 2019. This yard sale is held to raise money for scholarships that will be awarded directly to MHS students! Attention all juniors and seniors…please consider going to the Oak Point Yard Sale to help with the set-up or clean-up and to volunteer an hour to two to this wonderful cause. The event will take place from 8:00am – 2:00pm. Oak Point is looking for help set-up and break-down.
Middleborough Majorettes Tryouts Begin!
The Middleborough Majorettes will be holding tryouts for the team on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00pm in the Nichols Middle School Gym. You do not need a baton to try out, there were will some available. Returning members of the team will have tryouts on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00pm. This includes all last students from last year in Novice, Class A and Class B Members.
Middleborough High School Book Club – Monday, September 23, 2019
The first Book Club of the year will take place on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 2:00pm in the MHS Library. Please see Mrs. Phillips with any questions.
Anime Club Meeting - Tuesday, September 24, 2019
The next meeting of the Anime Club will take place on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 2:00pm in Room 213. Please see Mr. Coutinho with any questions.
Student Council Lock-In - Saturday, October 5 - Sunday, October 6, 2019
The annual Student Council Lock-In will take place on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6 (8pm – 7am) for all members of the MHS Student Council. Permissions slips are available from the main office this week. You do not want to miss out on this annual event!! Please see Mr. Branagan or Mr. Siciliano with any questions.
Class of 2020 – YEARBOOK INFORMATION AND SENIOR PICTURES
- Seniors, please make sure you are checking your email for the information regarding senior pictures and senior photos. Everything will be done electronically, including the senior favorites and the senior superlatives.
- The deadline for submitting your senior portrait and your baby picture is October 25, 2019.
- Yearbooks will be available for online orders shortly, so please look out for a flyer from Jostens, which will be mailed home soon. This will contain online ordering information, in addition to the tiered pricing. The earlier your order your yearbook, the less expensive it will be.

School Picture Day – September 25, 2019
All students will participate in Picture Day on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. We welcome Josten’s into our school to take school photos for all students in Grades 9 – 11. Also, all members of the Class of 2020 will sit for a picture for ID purposes only.
