Enrichment Drive Extended
Thank you to those families who have already donated!
Without your donation some of our programs are at critical risk to be eliminated!
We are getting closer to our goal but not yet to the $100,000 goal, please keep the support coming! We have extended the date to 9/30 and we need you to participate. So far we’ve had participation from over 25% of families (THANK YOU) and we know our Oster Community can show up in greater numbers.
Unfortunately, if we don't meet the fundraising goals, HSC will have to start cutting enrichment activities and programs planned for the year.

Oster Elementary Home & School Club is an all-volunteer parent organization open to all Oster families. Our objective is to provide programs and activities that enrich the education of each student attending Oster Elementary School. Each year we raise funds to support enrichment programs in areas such as music, clay, PE lunchtime games, and field trips that are not covered by the State or District. We provide each teacher with grade level funds for supplemental resources, field trips, events and supplies they may need during the school year. We fund $250 per student each year that directly benefits each student (details below), as a result the suggested donation per student is $250 (HSC actually funds well over $250 per student when you add in support to the school, teachers/staff, and beyond!).
Enrichment Fund: The Top 3 Classrooms will win a Pizza Party!
The race is officially on… the top 3 classrooms to fundraise the most dollars towards Oster’s Enrichment Fund by 9/30 will win a Pizza Party with their classmates. Who is in the lead so far? Our current top-rankers are Growitz (2nd), Acton (2nd), & Augustine (K), followed closely by Plane (4th/5th), & Rogers (K). Help your student & class earn Pizza HERE!
Employer Matching
We are thrilled that so many companies are matching donations! Your direct donation, and any employer match, will help us pay for the student, school, and faculty programs that we have committed to for this school year. Click here to learn more about employer matching. If you are donating through your employer's matching grant websites (thank you!!!), please include your student's classroom teacher in the notes section.
Did you know... Company matches (including both the donation and the match) typically come in to HSC several weeks after the donations are made and, as such, will be added to the donation drive total when they are received. The 3 classes who raise the most donations and will celebrate with pizza parties will be announced later this fall. Totals will include donations that come in through 9/30 and parent donations received through company matching programs in the subsequent weeks. We are so proud of our Oster Community!
School Site Council
School Site Council (SSC) is a group of staff members and community members who provide consultation during the review and development of the Comprehensive School Safety Plan and Single Plan for Student Achievement. We have two opening on this year's School Site Council and invite you to be a part of this committee. SSC members serve a two-year term and attend three meetings per year. If you are interested in participating in Oster's School Site Council, please email Mrs. Taormina (taorminal@unionsd.org) or notify the office by the end of the week if you are interested in joining us. Independent Study Requests: Short Term
Vacations taken while school is in session can cost our school and district thousands of dollars each year. USD gets funding based on the number of students physically at school on a day-to-day basis. Please do not take vacations unless they fall on a school holiday or break if at all possible.
If a trip is necessary, parents may request a short-term independent study contract (for absences from 3-14 days) two weeks before the absence. To request an Independent Study Contract, parents will need to email Mrs.Beagle in the front office. If a parent fails to notify the office two weeks before the trip, the student will be marked as unexcused for the duration of their absence.
