Friday Science Skype with Science teacher Mr. Hollinger

Mr. Hollinger took time to be our Science Skype Source on Friday afternoon and share his knowledge of arthropods and animals. He explained differences between venomous vs. poisonous and answered student questions about live animals that he has in his classroom at Open Window School in Bellevue, Washington.

Mr. Hollinger suggested students watch the video below, by scientist David Attenborough, to learn more about another "pet" of his.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Horizon School Shirts -- Friday order forms were sent home to order an official "Super Hero in Training" Horizon t-shirt. Orders need to be returned by 1/22. Please make checks out to Horizon Elementary school.

Read to Succeed --- 360 minutes to be logged by beginning of February. Students can turn in their log sheets as soon as they are completed. Students who read and submit their logs can earn a free ticket to Six Flags Great America. Questions? Contact Ms. Rooney.

Box Tops -- Students that turn in Box Tops now through February 26th will get 1 ticket for every 5 Box Tops turned in. The tickets will be handed out at the carnival. Contact Lisa with questions at

Treasures of Waukesha County Essay and Image Contest

Students have information coming home Friday about this optional essay contest. Details about the contest is on the first page, page two is the entry form and release form.
