We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Father Doyle Families,
I pray you and your families are having a blessed Advent! This Sunday, the third Sunday of Advent, is known as Gaudete Sunday. Marked by a pink candle on the Advent wreath, the name comes from the opening antiphon for Mass this Sunday - "Gaudete in Domino semper," or "Rejoice in the Lord, always." It is a day dedicated to expressing the joy of anticipation at the coming of Christmas.
I find this to be a particularly helpful reminder amidst these mid-December days. Often at this time illnesses are on the rise as we enter cold and flu season, our calendars are filled with various events and obligations, and the days are becoming colder and shorter. Yet, the antiphon for Mass this Sunday calls us to rejoice in the Lord not only when we can make the time or when it is easy, but to rejoice in the Lord always!
And so, as we look ahead to the final two weeks before the Christmas break, may we take this time to rejoice in the Lord and the many blessings He has poured out in our lives and particularly here at Father Doyle School! Each day, as I stop in at various classrooms, pass students and staff in the hallways, or meet parents and families in my office, I am reminded of the incredible faith, kindness, generosity, and stewardship present within in our school. Undoubtedly, "the Lord has done great things for us," and, particularly this Sunday, "we are filled with joy!" (Ps. 126:3).
