WSD Update
Good afternoon, Wentzville School District families,
A senseless tragedy unfolded in Uvalde, Texas, yesterday, and our thoughts are with those who have been impacted by this horrific mass school shooting. As you welcome your children home today, it is only natural to think of their safety and well-being. We share your concern and remain vigilant and proactive with safety measures here in the WSD.
All staff in our district – including teachers, administrators, and support staff – are trained in emergency response procedures, and we have crisis plans in place for each of our buildings. Our school district also has a strong partnership with our local law enforcement officials, and we have school resource officers and local PD who are quick to respond when help is needed. I spoke with a Chief this morning, and we are collectively horrified by yesterday's events and will continue to revisit practices and prioritize the safety of all stakeholders in the WSD. In addition, we have buzz-in security at each building, and this year we implemented Raptor – a visitor management system to assist with building security.
It is critical that our students feel safe at school so they are free to learn, and these are just a few of the many ways we strive to do just that. As always, please report any safety concerns to an administrator and encourage your children to do the same.
Our thoughts are with the Robb Elementary School community.
Dr. Curtis Cain
WSD Superintendent
