News from the Creek- Weekly Update
Hippo Nation...Better Together! May 25, 2020
A Note from your CCE Principal
Dear CCES Families--
Thank you for driving through our campus last week to pick up student personal items! We got to see our students and families as we passed out items to most of our families! We miss you very much and applaud your work and effort in Learning@Home during school closures. We are excited about sending out a warm summer wish for all of our families!
On behalf of all of our CCE staff, we would like to wish all of our students and families a safe and healthy summer break! We are looking forward to returning in the fall semester! Here are some updates to look forward to when we return to our campus:
1. Cottonwood will be getting an "upgrade"! Our main hallway/library area will undergo renovations to open up the space and move our campus into what the future of learning environments will look like including more collaborative learning spaces, flexible and moveable spaces, and a new library! Our campus will also be transforming our outdoor courtyard into an outdoor learning space! Our playground will get a revamp of playground equipment/play spaces courtesy of our wonderful PTA! Our cafeteria is also slated to undergo some new fresh paint and possibly a mural (keeping my fingers crossed for that one)!
2. All of our classrooms will get a refresh including new "flexible" learning desks, tables, chairs, etc. This flexibility will allow teachers to set up their classrooms in group clusters for learning, individual learning time spaces, or large group setups as student and teaching needs arise. Model classroom environments were reviewed this school year and all elementary campuses and committees voted on their favorite set up! Can't wait for open house to show our families what the classrooms look like!
3. Student and teachers will also be getting upgraded applications and teacher laptops to support 21st century learning even further! Our goal is to provide the technology skills and supports that our students will need (and have practiced over the course of school closures) now and in the future! Our classrooms will also be receiving upgrades to projection/display devices that allow for interaction by students during instruction!
As you can see, our goal is to continue to do what is best for our students! Our district supports all of our campuses and these initiatives reflect that mission! Let the improvements to begin! Hutto ISD is truly focused on Academics, Character, and Community!
This is our final Weekly Newsletter for the year! Please be on the look out for our Monthly Newsletters to resume in the fall~ Thank you!
Cottonwood Creek Elementary has the BEST Staff, Students, and Families! We truly are "Better Together"! Our students are "Legendary" at Cottonwood Creek Elementary!

Questions and Answers:
Parents/Families that missed the student distribution can "drive thru" the front entrance of the school on Friday, May 29th in the morning from 8-11 AM and then again on Thursday, June 4th from 8-11 AM. Once you arrive if you will call the front office at 512-759-5430, we will bring items out to you in the front entrance area. Thank you again!
2. What can I do If I still want my child to practice skills over the summer?
Remember that students have optional, enrichment activities access online. These are not required, but are offered to help students/families continue to have access to practicing skills, etc. Students can always log onto their Clever Account and keep using the applications that they have had access to all year.
3. How will I know if my child received a "Pass or Fail" for the grading period?
This week, teachers will be reviewing and grading any pending assignments from prior weeks. Teachers will be reviewing all online work, student history, parent/family communication, and then work with our administrators to determine Pass/Fail for this grading period for each subject and for the school year. The due date for teachers to finalize grades is May 28th and parents will receive notification through skyward/family access of the final grading period and final grade on their report card through the system. Please contact your child's teacher if you need more information.
4. How do I return the technology that my student received?
We will have a Chromebook and hotspot drop off from May 26-29 at Hutto High School. It will be a near mirror image of the pick-up process. Here are the dates to drop off:
● Tuesday May 26 - 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
● Wednesday May 27 - 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
● Thursday May 28 - 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
● Friday May 29 - 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
The chromebook and power cord should be returned together. Also, any hotspots and it's own power cord should be returned. Students who are attending virtual summer school should keep their devices.
5. What about any pending Step It Up Fundraiser Prizes? How will families receive them?
Step It Up will be sending extra prizes that were not part of the original distribution to our campus. We will give families notice when they arrive to allow for pick up of those prizes. Thank you, PTA!
May 28: Last day for students to turn in assignments.
May 29: Last day for teachers/paraprofessionals.
June 5: Hutto High School Graduation!
Hutto High School graduation planning is underway for Friday, June 5. We are excited about the
opportunity to have an in-person ceremony for our students. Please reach out to the Hutto High School for more information about how this will be conducted. Thank you!
