Read at Home Each Night!

Often parents ask, "What can I do at home to help my child?" The answer is simple- READ! Read every night for at least 20 minutes. Read out loud to your child and talk with your child about what they are reading. The amount your child reads makes a huge difference in their overall achievement at school. Students who read an average of 20 minutes a day encounter significantly more text, score higher on standardized tests, and do better in school.

Help make reading fun for your child by;

1. Reading out loud together. Children love to laugh, predict, and talk about what they see in the books they read!

2. If your child is reading chapter books, read the books too! Talk to them about what is happening in the book, what the characters are feeling, why the characters are acting that way, how they think the story might turn out, about how the author made them feel through the story.

3. Help your child choose books about things they love. Your child will read more if they are reading about topics they enjoy.

4. Read non-fiction too!

5. Be a reading role model. Show your child how important reading is by reading too!

Attendance Update

Our school goal is to have 97% or better attendance every month (and for the whole year!) We know that children who attend regularly do better in school. We appreciate your help in making sure that your child(ren) are at school everyday and on time.
