Principal's Pen

Dear Bishop Baraga Trekkers,

Happy Monday and happy Thanksgiving! This week we have full days of school on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday we dismiss at noon, and then Thanksgiving Break begins! I wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Our first Advent activity at school is the Advent Prayer Exchange. Each child picks a special person to pray for. Then within each classroom the students exchange names. They decorate a paper ornament and mail that to the person they are praying for. If you have not sent in a name and address for each of your children, please email them to the teacher so those ornaments can be made this week and sent at the beginning of Advent.

This weekend our Parent Association will be decorating the school for Advent. On Saturday we will be at school at 9:00 a.m. and on Sunday we are starting at noon. Please feel free to join us. We can use all the help we can get!

Our Caught Being a Christian Award this week goes to Annabelle Chouinard. Annabelle noticed that one her classmates needed help during technology. She quickly took a seat next to them and helped them with their problem. She was practicing the virtue of kindness. Great job, Annabelle!

Have a wonderful week!

Meal Train

Below is a link to a Meal Train for the Wittock Family. This allows anyone to sign up to bring a meal to the family for the next few weeks. You can make a home-cooked meal or send gift cards for restaurants or the grocery store. This is one great way to support them during this difficult time.

First Grade Fun

The first graders are keeping busy as Thanksgiving approaches. Last week they each made a turkey, named it, and then found words that began with the same sound. They also tried popping popcorn in the microwave. It was somewhat successful. :)

Kindergarten Handwriting

The kindergarten students have been working hard to learn to spell and write their first and last names. Look at how great their handwriting looks!

Fifth and Sixth Grade Reading

The 5th and 6th graders just started reading one of my favorite books - Mrs. Frisby and Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O'Brien.

Second Grade Math

Below you can see pictures of the 2nd graders using playing cards to practice subtraction.
