Partnership. Performance. Pride.

Hello Parents,

The holiday spirit is taking over GHS. We sold all of our Lions Santa hats within days of their arrival! The week ahead will include Santa-gram sales and pictures with Santa as he visits our cafeteria during student lunches. Our final day before winter break will continue the traditions of our Lions Chorus filling the hallways with holiday caroling and the annual Cragge Bowl volleyball/broomball competition between our Senior class and staff.

Next week should provide you with some valuable updates of your child's academic growth. You should now have access to your child's PSAT scores through We will be meeting with each high school grade level the week that we return from winter break to assist them in interpreting their PSAT and, most importantly, developing a plan to utilize the invaluable Khan Academy SAT resources available---now, completely free---that 5 million users have registered to utilize since June of 2015! This program will take your child's PSAT results from this October, identify both strengths and weakenesses in their skills, and personalize SAT practice focusing on skill areas that your child can benefit from most.

Along the same lines, the second benchmark assessment of the school year will be administered one day next week in your child's English and Math classes. When we return from break, our teachers will analyze student growth from the baseline assessment administered in September and this second benchmark assessment looking to confirm that students have mastered the skills and knowledge instructed to throughout the first four months of the school year. This also provides our staff with critical insight if any data exhibits that skill areas exist that students still haven't mastered so the teacher can plan to revisit these areas instructionally in the months ahead.

Thanks to all parents and community members who submitted nominations for "Teacher of the Year" and "Educational Services Provider of the Year." We are endlessly fortunate to have so many wonderful candidates at GHS to choose from.

In Partnership,

Sean Gorman

  • We’ll hold our first College Acceptance Celebration lunch of this school year on Monday. This tradition was started a few years ago to provide students with the opportunity to celebrate their college acceptance achievements with their peers and our staff. Each accepted student signs a paper with the emblem/mascot of the university they were accepted by and we hang this in our cafeteria for the remainder of the school year.
