Weekly Update 12/14/18

At Eastridge Elementary our mission is to develop a community of lifelong learners who will positively impact society.

HEALTHY CELEBRATIONS

While we love to celebrate , please remember that there is a “no birthday treats “ guideline. To access fun and helpful resources for healthy celebration ideas please visit the district wellness policy by clicking on this link. Also note that no birthday invitations are allowed to be distributed at school. It is school policy.

Fast Food

Please refrain from bring fast food into the building during student lunch times. We encourage you to eat a school lunch or pack a lunch from home.

Dear Parents

During the 2017-18 Legislative Session, State Lawmakers passed Senate Bill 355, which required all public schools to provide age-appropriate research, evidence-based instruction, child abuse education, and policies on child abuse and child sexual abuse to students in kindergarten through grade 12.

On December 17, 2018 your child will be using the Think First; Stay Safe child personal safety program. Think First; Stay Safe teaches students skills to help them stay safe. Presentations will be given by the Indiana University School of Social Work, Marion County Department of Child Services, and Warren staff and administration. Our learners will be taught the importance of treating one another with kindness and respect. They will also learn about personal boundaries and their right to have their boundaries respected by others.

The program’s interactive lessons help children differentiate between healthy and unhealthy behaviors. The program gives students regular reminders that trusted adults are available to help with their safety, and are available to talk to any time.

Below you will find the letters with this information if needed.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Johnson

Hello Families!
As many of you know over that last year and a half I have shared my position with Lakeside Elementary, however after Winter Break, I will transition over to the full time counselor at Eastridge Elementary! I am very excited to be able to wholly serve students and families. A school counselor assists in supporting both academic and socio-emotional needs of your students. Be on the look out for "Counselor’s Weekly Digest with Mr. Phillips” featured in your weekly newsletter — There you will find updates and news about the developing counseling program at Eastridge.
