News from Sundling Junior High
March 30, 2020
Letter from the Principal
Hello Sundling Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you well. I hope that you were able to enjoy time with family during Spring Break and found news ways to connect and stay active during these times of social distancing. During these challenging times, we continue to be inspired by your kind words and encouragement. Thank you for your continued support as we navigate these uncharted waters together. Based upon Dr. Heinz's recent email to families, we know that schools will be closed through at least April 7, 2020. CCSD15 will continue to update families as we receive additional information.
The Sundling staff and I are doing well and taking care of ourselves and our families, but we are heartbroken about not being able to see students during this time. Please let your children know that we all miss them and that their teachers are thinking about them.
Distance Learning starts up again on Tuesday, March 31. Each day, please make sure that your child completes the WRS daily attendance form. The attendance link is the same for the entire building and can be completed by a student or parent. This form will also be provided by their 1st period teacher. It will be available to students daily, but I added the link below as a reference, if needed. Our school day starts at 8:30am and ends at 2:30pm. Attendance should be submitted by 10:00am. Late submissions are possible and still accepted by the form.

Walter R. Sundling Junior High - D15 Distance Learning Attendance Form
You and/or your child should have received an email from your child's teacher on March 20th, and your child will hear from them each weekday, moving forward. Your child's teacher will be providing Distance Learning lessons for your child via a digital platform. Our teachers will be using Google Classroom to provide learning opportunties, and your child is very familiar with this tool. Over the next few weeks, we will continue to streamline and organize materials to ensure consistency and communication.
Sundling teachers are available from 8:30-11:30 and 12:30-2:30 daily to engage with students and parents about the Distance Learning activities.
What is Distance Learning? Distance Learning provides continuity of instruction to students during extended school closure. Teachers provide students with directions and materials so they are able to learn while at home. The materials assume that a child's parent may not be in a position to provide continuous support to their child during Distance Learning. We appreciate your patience as we field questions from both staff and families.
Although the school is closed, I will continue to be available by email. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have. I can be reached at dietzj@ccsd15.net .
As always, thanks for your continued support of our school, students, and staff!
Take care and stay well.
Sincerely,
Jason Dietz
Principal
