Mrs. Cobain-Soto is replacing Mrs. Cole who is moving on to a new adventure at Sexton Mountain Elementary. Mrs. Cobain-Soto is a veteran first grade teacher and comes to us with 14 years of experience. She has a solid background in literacy and has served on many district leadership committees. Mrs. Cobain-Soto enjoys traveling, shopping, reading, and exploring the Willamette Valley. She is excited to share her love of learning with the Nancy Ryles community.

Mrs. Miller is replacing Mrs. Bargmann who is retiring. Mrs. Miller is a native Oregonian that loves to hike, garden and relax with family and friends. She has 15 years of experience, 5 in McMinnville and the other 10 in Beaverton at McKinley Elementary and Springville K8. Mrs. Miller is married to an engineer and has two children ages 7 and 1. Welcome Mrs. Miller!

Mrs. Nordstrom is replacing Mrs. Messina who is joining the North Clackamas School District. Mrs. Miller most recently taught third grade. Mrs. Nordstrom and her husband live in Newberg with their two lizards, Leona and Rex. They enjoy going on adventures and watching documentaries. She is excited to begin the next stage of her career with the students and staff at Nancy Ryles.

Mrs. Allan is replacing Mrs. Young who is retiring. Mrs. Allan rejoins the Nancy Ryles staff after a year living abroad in New Zealand. We are excited she is back home at Nancy Ryles.
Amber Burnett and Crystal Gittings
Mrs. Burnett and Ms. Gittings will be collaborating together to support the needs of the third grade students. Mrs. Burnett is a clinical teacher in the Teach For Beaverton program. She will be working alongside Ms. Gittings who was also a part of our staff during the 2016.2017 school year. More details about the Teach for Beaverton program and its unique opportunities for students will be shared in the fall.

Mrs. Burnett and Ms. Ostertag will be collaborating together to support the needs of the fourth grade students. Mrs. Burnett is a clinical teacher in the Teach For Beaverton program. Ms. Nieslanik is replacing Mrs. Holm who is returning to middle school. Ms. Nieslanik recently graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Special Education and a minor in Reading. She is excited to begin her professional career in the same school district she grew up in. She is looking forward to getting to know the Nancy Ryles community and her students!

Mrs. Bax is replacing Mrs. Hathaway who is retiring. Mrs. Bax grew up in Beaverton and is a graduate of Sunset High and the University of Puget Sound. Mrs. Bax is married and has two daughters. This year she will also have an exchange daughter from Iceland attending Sunset. In her spare time, she enjoys performing in local theater, volunteering with AFS Intercultural Exchange programs, traveling anywhere, and spending time with family and friends. She is looking forward to becoming part of the Nancy Ryles community.

Thank you so much for supporting our school and our community! We look forward to seeing everyone on Friday, September 1 for our Donuts and Drop Off which begins at 8 am. This will be the time where you will meet your teacher for the 2017.2018 school year.
NRCO NEWS
D4$: This summer we have a D4$ event at Pietro's Pizza in Beaverton. Go in anytime on Tuesday, July 11 and 20% of the amount spent on laser tag, mini golf and food (excluding alcohol) will go to the NRCO. Just make sure and either show the flyer or tell the cashier that you are there for Nancy Ryles. It could be a fun time together with friends/family and have the kids catch up with friends over the summer. Check out the attached flyer for more.
SuperPlay: We are teaming up with SuperPlay this summer. Visit SuperPlay any weekday between 2-5pm, purchase 3 of the following in any combination: 1 game of bowling with shoes, 1 game of laser tag, 1 $5 arcade card all for just $15 and we will receive 50%. Example: You could purchase 3 games of bowling for $15 or 2 games of laser tag and 1 arcade card for $15. Box Tops: Our last collection yielded $276.20 bringing this school year's total to $836.70. Thanks for collecting those Box Tops and remember to continue collecting over the summer for next school year please.

- Open regular hours Monday - Thursday through June 29.
- Closed all of July
- Open August 2 and 9 from 8 am - 12 pm only
- Open regular hours starting August 14 (closed on August 18).
MILES OF SMILES UPDATE
Miles of Smiles is an optional program run by our NRCO. It is designed to increase physical activity and promote health and wellness for students. During recess students can run or walk around the track. We are very excited about the totals for the school year.
As a school, students ran a total of total: 1,516 miles! Grade level totals are:
K: 491 miles
1st: 396 miles
2nd: 305 miles

THE DRAGON TRADE LIBRARY
The Dragon Trade Library will be out for use again this summer! The Trade Library will be wheeled out to the back of the building (on the blacktop, under cover) during the summer months. The idea is simple: give a book to the Trade Library, and then take a book from the Trade Library.
Visit The Dragon this summer! From Monday, June 26 to Friday September 1, every weekday, on the blacktop in the back of the school!

Friday, September 1 - Donuts and Drop Off from 8:00 - 9:15 am. This is a time to find out your child's teacher, see the classroom/building, drop off school supplies and enjoy a donut provided by our NRCO!
Tuesday, September 5 - First day of school for 1st - 5th graders!
Tuesday, September 5 - First day of school for kindergartners with the last name beginning with A-M
Wednesday, September 6 - First day of school for kindergartners with the last name beginning with N-Z
Thursday, September 7 - All kindergartners attend school!
Thursday, September 14 - Volunteer Orientation at 5:30 pm
Thursday, September 14 - Back to School Night (Session 1 at 6:00 pm and Session 2 at 6:45 pm)
