Wilson's Weekly
Feb. 11 - 15, 2019
Math
Monday, we will discover how to take the area and use multiplication & division to find the missing side length of a rectangle. Tuesday & Wednesday, we'll use the distributive property to break apart a large rectangle into 2 smaller rectangles in order to find the area. Thursday, the students will solve area word problems.
Reading
This week, we will be reading passages with multiple paragraphs. Then, the students will identify the main idea of the entire passage. Next, they will practice matching the main idea of each paragraph with a detail that supports it.
Writing & Spelling
During our Writing time this week, we will again be working on our persuasive writing. The students are currently working on giving facts that support each of their reasons. We'll also work on adding details, examples, and statistics to support our reasons.
In Spelling, we will focus on words that contain soft c & g, consonant blends, and digraphs.
Social Studies
Monday, we'll learn about the Louisiana Purchase and why this was so important for the United States. Tuesday & Wednesday, the students will be learning about and taking detailed notes over the significance of the Lewis & Clark expedition. Thursday, we'll read an account of the Lewis & Clark expedition written from Sacagawea's point of view. Then, the students will begin outlining their own diary entry from another explorer's point of view.
