When do students have indoor recess/mornings?
To determine whether or not children are outside, we use this chart as a guideline. When the temperature gets close to the second blue field, we strongly consider keeping students indoors.
It is important that you send your child to school dressed to be outside for 20 minutes of recess.
Must haves
- Hats
- Gloves
- Winter jacket
- Boots
- Snow pants
- Scarf
- Face mask
- Other items your child may need to stay warm
When every child at Franklin has a hat, a pair of gloves, a winter coat and a pair of boots, that's 6 items per child times 465 children for a total of 2,790 pieces of clothing. Chances are high that things will get dropped, misplaced or mixed up with other students' clothing. Labeling your child's clothing helps greatly.
Looking for some free family fun next Friday?
The students voted to watch Smallfoot at our first free movie night of the year! Bring a comfy chair and/or blankets and a water bottle with a lid. PTO will furnish popcorn for free and have a few other candy concessions available to purchase. Auditorium doors open for seating at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at 6:30. This is not a drop-off event, and adult must be present during the entire event. Please use door #9 off E Lafayette Street to enter the school.
