The World is Our Family!

Hello Comet Nation,

At the start of the new year, we at CIS, continue to plan and focus on educational improvements using data and lesson planning to ensure all students find success through growth. With only 96 more school days in this year, it will take the whole community to support students in their own journeys. So, parents and grandparents, neighbors and friends, let's work together to help our CIS Comets grow!

What can you do to help your child at home?

  • Make sure your child is at school every day possible.
  • Keep in touch with teachers.
  • Check PowerSchool to make sure your child is turning in work.
  • Encourage your child to persevere with a "can-do" attitude.
  • Set goals and prioritize skills that will help your child reach their goals.

A great resource for families is our School Counselors. Their website is a wealth of knowledge on how to support your child socially and emotionally. Please contact them with any concern you may have.

In other news...

Updates will be happening to the front playground for the next few months as it undergoes repairs and updates to make it a fun place for our students to play. This area is off-limits to all members of the community.

CIS' annual Environmental Extravaganza will take place on April 21. If you are interested in helping with this event, please contact Mrs. Furlough at

As always, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me or the Assistant Principals, Mr. George and Mrs. Donaldson.

Schedules for the Games

Ordering Tickets for Games

Gym Floor

Our gym floor has been renewed. There will no longer be any boots, crocs, flip flops, or dress shoes allowed on the gym floor. If a student has gym, they need to wear gym appropriate shoes. If not, they will not be allowed to participate in gym, which may affect their grade.

Bus Donations

We are taking donations for transportation for winter sports. The link below is the donation link, and the tickets are the donations, so nothing else must be done after your donation.

Thank you for your help and donations.

PTSO Meeting

In an effort to revitalize our PTSO and the support they give to our school, I will be having a Zoom meeting on January 19 at 6:30. If you are interested in becoming a support to the school by volunteering in different ways like fundraising and teacher appreciation events, please fill out this form so that I can send you an invitation to the meeting. Let me know if you have any questions before the January meeting.
