GSRP and Cardinal's Nest January 19th-22nd

GSRP Classroom and Program Evaluation Update

It is certainly hard to believe, we are half way through the school year. We will be ending fist semester next week! At this mid-point in the year, all of our GSRP classrooms have received classroom observations and baseline evaluations with feedback meetings from our ECS, Heather Williamson. I am proud of our classroom scores and the work that you all put into creating developmentally appropriate classroom activities and learning environments for our earliest learners. During the next few months, all GSRP teachers will receive support visits from our ECS before the final PQA form A evaluation and scores will be given in May. Last Thursday, we also received our annual PQA form B evaluation. We were rated in the areas of program management, parent involvement, family services, and staff qualification and certifications. I look forward to sharing our program score and details of the evaluation with staff at our next staff meeting. Your commitment to our students and communication with our parents is what makes our programs a success and a popular preschool option for our Davison parents. Keep up the great work!

This week's Cardinal Code focus...

Due to last week's snow days and this week's shortened week, we will double up and do a review of the hallway lesson and the classroom lesson as well. The first week in February will mark the beginning of the second semester, and the district wide celebration kick off of the implementation of the Cardinal Code. Each building in the district will be doing different activities to celebrate. This Friday's committee will finalize plans for our preschool celebration. Look for details in next week's SMORE. Please continue to mention the Cardinal Code and what lesson your classroom is focusing on for the week. We want parents to understand and help us reinforce positive behaviors.

Parent Advisory Meetings

Our parent advisory meeting for GSRP parents will be held Wednesday, January 27th, 6:00-7:00 in the media center and child care in the multi-purpose room. We have a full agenda planned with Heather Williamson sharing data, Andrea and April sharing about Creative Curriculum, Stephanie sharing about ASQ and a time for questions and a parent survey. Thank you for all of your involvement in the planning process, presenting, and providing child care. This has truly been a group effort!

Our second parent advisory meeting will be for Cardinal's Nest families and GSRP families. It will be held March 2nd and will cover the topic of Transition to Kindergarten. Mrs. Miller will be here to present options for parents of students who have children with later birthdays. We will also be sharing information for parents regarding repeating GSRP, and preparing their students for kindergarten. We have some nice kindergarten readiness resources to share. We would like to have all staff present at this meeting. We will be providing dinner and child care for families. This meeting will be held from 5:30-7:00.

Our third parent advisory meeting will be held in April or May. The meeting will be held during the day at the Davison Public Library. Parents will be hearing about resources for their children and families offered through GDL. Our parent coalition contact from GISD will also be presenting parenting resources for parents within Genesee County.
