News from the View!
Dedicated to furthering the lives of our students.
As we conclude our first month of the school year, I want to share with you how excited I am about the year ahead. Our school community did a tremendous job of welcoming our new community members and developing a school culture that is safe, supportive, and conducive to learning. I want to thank all of you for assisting us with this process. Your work to prepare your student for school every day is key to their success, and your efforts are always appreciated!
As we move into the month of October I wanted to provide you with information about a few items that will require your attention. First, I would like to invite you to our upcoming conferences. You will have an opportunity to meet with your student’s teachers, review classroom objectives and goals, and learn about your student's academic progress. Conferences that will be held Tuesday October 15th from 3:00 to 7:00 pm and October 24th during the same period.
Next, I would like to make you aware of our upcoming Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) Math and Reading assessments. These assessments will be our students first opportunity to show us what they know. The MAP computerized test measures what students know and informs us about what they're ready to learn next. Please review the schedule included below, and remind your student to bring their fully charged Chromebook everyday, and during their testing time. Students should also bring headphones if they are interested in using the text-to-speech function during this test.
New Visitor Management System
Every day, our goal is to provide a safe learning and working environment for students and staff. As part of that effort, our school district will implement a new visitor and volunteer management system, called RAPTOR. The new system will be used during our regular office hours, and will require you to provide your drivers license when entering the building. Outlined below is what you should expect with this process.
What to expect
- When you arrive during the school day, you will be asked to present your photo ID. Your ID will be scanned, and you will be issued a name badge to wear during your visit. If you would like to learn more about what information is collected by doing this, please click here.
- Please allow a few minutes the first time you use the new system. For subsequent visits, you will be able to self-check in by scanning the bar code on the back of your driver’s license or other acceptable identification. Look for the sign that reads, “Visitor Self Check-In.”
- If you are dropping off items in the main office and not entering the school, you do not need to go through the visitor registration process.

About me.
Hello,
This is my sixth year serving as principal of North View Middle School. Before coming to North View, a large portion of my professional career has been spent with Osseo Area schools, six of which were spent working as the Assistant Principal of Osseo Senior High. Before that, I spent time as a Dean of Students for Richfield High School and middle school level Science teacher and behavior dean with the Minneapolis public school system.
While in Minneapolis, I spent five wonderful years teaching middle level Science at Lincoln Community School and Anishanabe Academy to sixth, seventh and eighth graders, and two years providing academic and behavioral support while working as dean. My past experiences have shaped my core beliefs and philosophy of education. For me, schools must be an integral part of the community they serve. They should also be focused on high expectations for all students, and through developmentally appropriate and strong instructional practices, give students the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to exceed these expectations.
