Parent Drop Off Reminders
I would like to remind everyone of the rules to follow for the safety of our children during car drop off each day. There have been some very dangerous drop offs over the past couple of months. We have had students running between cars through the parking lot during car drop off. This is extremely unsafe and can easily be avoided if everyone just follows the rules and slows down.
- Only drop your student off at the curb. When the adults on duty wave their hands for your student to get out of the car, students need to get out. Please don't wait to move forward to let them out. It stops empty cars/traffic again when not needed.
- Please do not drop your student off in the 2nd or 3rd row of the parking lot and having them walk unaccompanied across lanes of traffic that may not see your child.
- Please do not park on Sycamore Creek Street and allow your child to walk over the grass hill and through the parking lot by themselves.
- Please do not drive in the left (thru) lane to pass other cars and drop your child off in the left lane or over by the playground. You must be in the right lane to drop off your child.
- Please do not do U-turns on Sycamore Creek Street! Mr. Harris and our resource police officer can't anticipate U-turns.
- Please do not park in handicapped parking to drop off students
- Please do not stop on solid white lines, they are not a parking spot.
- Please follow the directions of the teachers and the police officer.
- Please do not direct traffic from your vehicle. Teachers are on duty along with an officer. If more people get involved, it causes mixed signals and creates safety issues.
- Please ask the police officer to move traffic more efficiently by gathering groups on corners and allowing vehicles to exit the school parking lot so everything flows better and is more safe.
- Please remember that safety is more important than convenience or saving 2 minutes.

Prescription Pick Up

We cannot send home medications with your child at the end of the school year. Any medication that is left in the clinic over the summer will be destroyed.
Summer Reading Enrichment
Please see flyer below for a summer reading enrichment opportunity from Xavier University.
Moving?
If you know that your student(s) will no longer be attending Sycamore Creek Elementary next school year, we encourage you to let us know. This helps us in the fall when we are trying to track down students that we were expecting to attend , but haven't shown up. If we are aware that a student will be moving and attending a different district, we can reach out to that district and confirm the move. Until we are in communication with the new district and they have requested your student's records, your student is considered our student and will be marked absent.
If you have a student in grades K-3, and know that they will not be attending Sycamore Creek Elementary next year, please email the principal at pamela_bertke@plsd.us. We greatly appreciate this communication and wish your family all the best.
