Family Communication December 6
Weekly Pond News
Hello Otter families,
We hope everyone's holiday season has started off well. We are down to just three weeks before Winter Break. As families prepare to gather with family and friends; we hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season. A special wish to our families who will begin celebrating Hanukkah this week.
The PTA's holiday shop has been busy. We appreciate all our parent volunteers that have worked hard to help every child shop during his/her class's scheduled time. The holiday shop is one of the programs our PTA is putting on for our students.
Last Monday was a PTA meeting. At that meeting, board members were able to give updates on what has already been done to make improvements around campus. One area that has received an uplift is the intermediate play area in the back of the school campus. An AstroTurf surface was put in the Gagapit. New storage bins were purchased for the different equipment. Soccer goal netting and tether balls were also purchased. This week, the framing and concrete will be done for two 20x20 squares that students will be able to play four square on or shoot basket. The next major project will be redesigning the beds outside the office and media. PTA members are working with master gardeners to ensure these areas can be sustained.
Friday, December 8 is our second Sunshine State Celebration. Students who have read and passed 8 tests by Wednesday, December 6, will be invited to participate in the celebration. Congratulations to all of our Otters who have earn the opportunity to attend.
We hope everyone has an OTTERific week!

Oakstead's Winter Fest
Families please join us on December 14th for this year's Winter Fest. We want to share that adjustments were made to improve this event based on the feedback we received. We have expanded the event across the campus and will have additional lighting to improve safety. There will be additional inflatables so ALL students have the opportunity to enjoy these activities. There will also be additional food vendors and larger variety of options. The cafeteria will again be an opportunity for families to see the products that some of our local business have to offer. The funds raised from the event will be put towards the purchase of additional computer carts, providing teachers with extra collaborative planning, and other special events during second semester. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
Holiday Theme Days
During the weeks of December 11-22, to get everyone into the holiday spirit, we have planned different Winter Theme Days. Students can participate by dressing up to match the day's theme. A calendar has been included below.
