What is Mastitis?
Mastitis is an infection of the breast tissue where it becomes swollen. Lactation mastitis happens within three months of giving birth.
What Causes Mastitis?
Just like having clogged pores, your milk duct could become clogged creating breast infection. Also, having bacteria enter into your breast could also cause a breast infection.
Treatment and Prognosis
Taking anti-biotics, pain relievers, and drinking extra fluids are all part of the treatment of mastitis. Usually patients with mastitis get better after 2-3 days of treatment, but if not treated early, an abscess could occur.
Who does this affect?
Mastitis can occur to both men and women. It is more common in women who have recently given birth to a baby.
