A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL GORDON

Happy Friday Lincoln Families,

I hope that students enjoyed their second week of school! Today we had our first school-wide celebration (via Zoom of course) and as usual DJ Mr. C rocked Lincoln School. I look forward to the coming weeks and months of more celebrations and learning.

Please continue to send our Lincoln Lions each morning with all required school supplies, a mask (and extra masks), a water bottle and a nut-free snack. Thanks for your continued help and support!

Below you will find pertinent information for upcoming events and happenings.

Take care,

Ms. Gordon

Weekly Shield Testing

We are pleased to share that D97 will move forward with large-scale, weekly deployment of testing Lincoln students, excluding families who opted out of testing, starting Tuesday, September 7th. District 97 looks forward to utilizing SHIELD testing as an additional mitigation strategy to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Starting on Tuesday, September 7th, Visit Healthcare will arrive at classrooms to start the testing process of students. They will bring one classroom into the hallway for testing at a time. Testing is non-invasive and only includes the collection of saliva. The student will follow the directions and guidance provided by Visit Healthcare. After testing, the students will then return to class. Visit Healthcare is hoping to spend approximately 5 minutes per class to limit time out of the classroom.

Extra Clothes and Extra Masks

Please be sure that your child has a change of clothes at school. Even students in the upper grades have spills, injuries etc. that will require a change of clothes.

We are also asking that all students have an extra mask on hand as well.

Please monitor your child's health symptoms

Staying home when sick is essential to keep COVID-19 infections out of schools and prevent spread to others.

Symptoms that should be monitored daily by District 97 staff, families and students are:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

School Hours

Just a reminder that the school day starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Please note that Wednesday is an early dismissal day, and school is dismissed at 2:30 p.m.

In the morning, playground supervision begins at 7:50 a.m. No student should arrive at school before this time. Students are to line up when the first bell rings at 7:57 a.m. Students will enter the building with their teacher when the second bell rings at 8:00 a.m. Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. are tardy and must enter the building through the main office door. The playground is supervised 10 minutes after school is dismissed.
