February Newsletter
Mrs. Brown's 2nd grade class
So.....this is only 7 days late. Better late than never.
With all these snow days, I am getting behind on some things and the February Newsletter was one of them. I apologize.
February is an exciting month.....
Not only will be celebrating a whole bunch of birthdays and Valentine's Day, but we will also be traveling to Gallagher Bluedorn Theater on the UNI campus to watch the production of "Three Little Birds." We will be leaving school around 9am and returning at 2:45pm. The school will provide school lunches. The cost will be taken out of your lunch account.
Reading/Writing
Although we have had many distractions, we have started our 3rd unit in Reading/Writing. We are talking about reading chapter books and writing about our favorite characters.
Math
We just finished up Unit 5-2D and 3D shapes. We learned about symmetry and learned vocabulary like vertices, faces and sides. Unit 6 will be about adding 3 digit numbers and other addition and subtraction operations. Keep practicing basic addition and subtraction facts. Students should have both addition and subtraction facts mastered by the end of 2nd grade.
Science/Social Studies.
After Christmas, we began our rock and mineral unit in Science. We are continuing to trudge though the material and will take a short break at the beginning of March to do a Iditarod unit in Social Studies!
