As some of you are all too aware, there are a lot of different viruses going around this time of year. Currently, we are experiencing a number of students with stomach viruses and upper respiratory viruses. The symptoms associated with the stomach virus include, but are not limited to, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, dizziness, headache, body aches, and stomach cramping. Symptoms associated with upper respiratory virus include, but are not limited to, severe headache, cough, sore throat, fever, fatigue, dizziness and body aches. Not all of these symptoms show with every child.
School policy is for a child to be fever, vomit, and/or diarrhea free for 24 hours without medications prior to returning to school. This will help keep the virus from further spreading. A virus will typically shed for 24 hours after symptoms resolve. Promoting good hand washing at school and at home will also help keep your family healthy. We also recommend your child to bring his/her own leak-proof water bottle to school to avoid using water fountains and increasing the risk of passing on illnesses. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 812-376-4426.
Thank you for all of your help with trying to keep our students healthy.

Give them your name and school and they will check you off the list. A huge THANKS to both high schools for making this happen!
