Has Your Phone Number/Email Changed?
Please email Roxanne Carter, Data Manager, rcarter@wcpss.net if your email address(es) or phone number(s) have changed. We rely on the information in PowerSchool to contact you for emergency situations and to send you school messages.
Visitors on Campus
Only essential visitors will be allowed on school campuses in an effort to protect the health and safety of our students.
We will have staff on hand to ensure all students get to their classroom on the 1st day of school!
For our Kindergarten families - Parents will be permitted to walk their kindergarten students to their classroom on their staggered entry day.
!Technology Updates!
All students will be assigned a student Chromebook at the beginning of the 2021-22 school year. If your student has no district Chromebook checked out, they will receive one at the beginning of the school year. It is highly recommended that all students receive a district-issued Chromebook. For students with a Chromebook checked out, they may be required to return the Chromebook to receive a new one, or they may be required to continue using it, depending on the model. Your school will let your student know if they are eligible to receive a replacement or will continue using the Chromebook they have.
Any problems with Chromebooks that are currently checked out must be reported to your school or the WCPSS Technology Help Desk as soon as possible. Please send reports to mknox-ingle@wcpss.net. Student devices that are not functioning because of a defect in the device will be repaired or replaced as needed. Devices that are damaged or lost will be replaced once during the device loan period. Students who experience a second incident of damage or loss will be limited to in-school use of a device only. All families will be expected to sign an agreement at the beginning of the school year acknowledging this and other student expectations. Find the agreement and additional information. Schools will provide a copy to students at the beginning of the school year.
Carpool Safety Reminders
For arrival and dismissal, please review the following procedures to help carpool run more smoothly:
*Students will dismiss by their carpool number. The carpool tag should be prominently displayed during afternoon dismissal.
* Follow the designated traffic flow.
* Proceed to the first available space before stopping in the carpool lane. During morning arrival, you may drop your child off once you have reached or passed the flagpole. We will be utilizing safety patrol students this year to assist with drop-off.
* Drivers should never exit the vehicle in the carpool lane. If you need to fasten a seat belt or otherwise secure your child, please pull forward past the bicycle rack as to not hinder the flow of traffic.
* Please maintain a single file line around the curb and keep the left lane for free-flowing traffic. Please do not pull around other cars in the carpool lane.
* Ensure that your student(s) get out of and into your vehicle on the passenger side for safety reasons. Students are not permitted to walk in front of cars and load on the driver’s side. This is for their safety. (Please see point above...cars sometimes don't follow the rules and pull around. This is why it is of the utmost importance that your child load from the passenger side.)
* During dismissal, please do not call or wave to your student(s) while you are pulling forward. Students MUST wait for all cars to stop before loading.
*Please refrain from using cell phones during carpool.
*Please remain polite and courteous to our staff working carpool.
Walker Updates
Walker Registration:
For the 21-22 school year, only families within the WCPSS “No transportation zone” will be allowed to be considered a walker for afternoon dismissal for the upcoming school year. You can find your designation by going to www.wcpss.net/transportation. Please use this link to register your child/children as a walker for the 21-22 school year:
https://forms.gle/8pw7fHjQ7gLyPutcA . The registration can also be found on our website.
- Walkers requiring a parent pick-up or buddy will be dismissed from the same door at 3 p.m. each day. Parents should wait outside by the exterior of room 303 (near our current Walker pick-up location). Carpool tag must be presented in order for students to be released as walkers to parents/guardians. There will be an assigned staff member calling each student by number.
- If there is a change of transportation (due to rain, etc…) parents must call the school prior to 2:30 p.m. and speak with the receptionist to change the mode of transportation.
- Parking a vehicle, and then walking to pick-up a student who is or is not identified as a walker, is not permitted.
Bus Transportation
All families wanting to utilize bus transportation should go to www.wcpss.transportation and register for bus service for the 21-22 school year. Bus tags will be provided to students on their first day of school.

Covid-19 Updates/Protocols
To minimize the spread of COVID-19, our school follows all COVID-19 health measures required by the NC Department of Health and Human Services. Review our Safe Return To School Plan before the first day of school. Remember, all students must stay home when sick, wear a face covering in school and should maintain as much physical distance as possible on campus. Please notify your student’s teacher or me as soon as possible if your student is diagnosed with COVID-19, so we can work with health officials for confidential contact tracing. Together, we can keep our students, staff, and community healthy in a safe and welcoming environment at school.
- Face Coverings: All students and staff are required to wear a face-covering when inside the school, unless a face covering exemption has been approved. Face coverings are optional when outside.
- Handwashing: Students will use hand sanitizer/wash their hands numerous times a days. Required times include: upon entering the classroom, before/after eating, before/after recess, and before/after sharing community materials.
- Eating/Drinking Guidelines: *Updated 7/2/21 from WCPSS. NC Department of Health and Human Services does not provide health guidance about students eating in schools. To best meet their nutritional and social-emotional needs, students may talk during meal times. We will have assigned seating in the cafeteria.
- Recess: Students are not required to wear a face-covering at recess. Currently, classes do not mix for recess. Please note that this protocol could change once school begins.
Stay home when sick.
All students should have their temperature taken every day at home before coming to school. You may not enter a WCPSS facility if you are:
- Diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 10 days
- Exposed to COVID-19 within the last 14 days and not fully vaccinated
- Instructed to quarantine
- Sick or experiencing any of these symptoms of illness
- 100.4° fever or higher
- Sore throat
- New cough
- New shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- New loss of taste or smell
- Diarrhea or vomiting
- New severe headache
In addition, students must be free of any symptoms of illness unless the student has a confirmed diagnosis from a healthcare professional attributing the symptoms to something other than COVID-19.
