LRMS: Week at a Glance
August 17-21, 2015
Sayings from Skinner
Good morning, Raiders!!! We're off and running on our 2nd full week! This is when we really start moving into curriculum, making sure we are focusing on teaching and learning, beginning student interventions, communicating often with parents, collaborating frequently with teammates and colleagues, and celebrating all wins -- large and small!! We are well into Radloff Reads and Radloff Reaches -- and we are all working together to make sure Radloff is READY!!!
I appreciate all of the wonderful efforts with building relationships and resetting/reestablishing our culture last week. Please continue to give out the "We are Radloff" bands and sport them proudly!! There are extras in the grade level offices. We'd love to have everyone READY and "on the team" by our Focused Fun Friday -- Sept. 4, when we'll all be sporting our collegiate wear and new Radloff spirit wear and having a "kick-off" for College Football season and more details on our school's focus on College and Career Readiness (more fun details to come).
Also -- please encourage students to take the ELT pre-tests seriously, so we get great data and can place our students correctly. I hope you enjoy your next sessions with your Radloff Reads groups, and that you continue to build the expectations that we are a community who READS and REACHES. I appreciate those of you who have really begun enacting the "10 for 5" ("15 for 5") homework efforts -- and for EVERYONE who is handing out tons of Raider Bucks. We will be working to have lots of fun "purchases" available via the school store -- and I know PBIS is working on the first Round-up and other exciting events to keep our kids pumped about making good choices.
Hope you are READY for another fantastic week -- I look forward to being in your classrooms and watching your great work in action!! GO RAIDERS!!!
NEWS YOU CAN USE
1) Kudos, Congratulations, and Other Matters of Good News:
(This is a space for YOU to send to Sarah all the good things that are happening at Radloff each week!! It is a way for us to celebration all of the Transformational and Innovative things that are going on! It is also a way to share great things happening -- professionally or personally! Make sure the matters get shared by Thursday, if you want it in the Week at a Glance for the next week!)
Great things are already happening at Radloff:
Congratulations to Lore Perez and Cristal Williams for being accepted into the GCPS Gifted Cohort. Good luck, ladies, as you continue to build your Toolkit!
Congratulations to Laketha Terry -- Her son -- Curtis Terry - was drafted into the MLB!! He's playing for the Texas Rangers!! CONGRATS to the whole family and to the mom who was (and is) always there for those practices, games, and LOTS of washing dirty uniforms!!
Don't forget to join Karen Slough and the Sunshine Committee -- we have 32 folks who have already committed to spreading joy by joining -- please see her for information.
Keep the good news items, kudos, and thank you's coming!!! Just email them to Sarah
2) eClass Excitement!LOVE all the exciting ideas being shared by faculty -- keep those going around -- and if you have ones you want to highlight in Week at a Glance -- let Sarah know!
Brigette Brown shared this: "I thought I would pass this assignment on for the eClass section of WAAG. It is designed to be used in conjunction with the eClass Student learning module shown to us by Amanda. Obviously, each teacher will need to change the assignment to fit their class page, but it could be a good template for anyone wanting to introduce their students to eClass." (her attachment is in the Week's email)
3) Second Week Schedule and Papers Collected in HR
We are onto a Regular Bell Schedule this week. Look in the faculty handbook for a copy -- or look at the attachments in the Week at a Glance email.
As HR teachers collect materials, please sort your three items with parent signatures and make sure you receive all three (pg. 31, the SASI Data Verification form, and the Clinic Card). Please check to see that they are filled out. Send them home again, if they are not completed. If students do not return these, start calling home. We really need the updated/correct information.
Prior to submitting these to your GL clerks, check to see if any changes have been recorded on the SASI Data Verification form. If it says "no changes" with a parent signature, just toss it. If is lists changes, check to see if those changes are the same info. on the clinic card. If the information is the same, turn in those forms in an alphabetized stack to your GL clerk. If the information does NOT match, staple the SASI documentation form to the clinic card, and submit those stapled forms to the GL Clerks. If you have questions, ask!
HR teachers -- continue to handout registration materials throughout this week -- and collect them back. Starting in the 3rd week, we will hand all those things out as we register/in-take students. THANKS.
