A Message from the Superintendent
The Riverside County Science and Engineering Fair annually provides an opportunity for our student scientists to showcase their skills. The 37th annual countywide event starts at the school level and ends at the county level with an Awards Ceremony (In-person) on March 3, 2023 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Bourns Technology Center in Riverside. We displayed all our students' projects and recognized all our students participating and moving forward in the annual competition this past Friday evening at La Sierra High School. Thank you RCOE for supporting this outstanding event.
This year we had over 80 projects that ranged from experimenting with puppy treats to testing various surfaces for germs at the Tyler Mall. Four projects from each division were judged to move forward in the competition. All of the projects were outstanding and the decisions by the judges were difficult to make. See our participants and their projects below. Congratulations to every student for participating in this year's competition. Every student is a winner!

SCHOOL SAFETY WEEKLY UPDATE
Our new visitor policy went into effect January 3, 2023. There are two tiers differentiated by whether or not the volunteer is under employee supervision. We do not want our policies to stand between our schools and volunteers. They are not hurdles. They are precautions. School officials will work with volunteers to ensure no volunteer that qualifies will ever be excluded.
Tier I: Volunteer will be under the supervision of a school employee while on campus and is not expected to volunteer on a regular basis:
- Complete the Volunteer Application form
- Provide a valid government photo identification
- School site staff will verify that the volunteer applicant is not listed on the Megan's Law website
- Provide proof of a negative TB result, Chest X-Ray or Risk Assessment (Results must be current within 60 days of submitting a volunteer application)
- Receive final clearance before volunteering
Tier 2: Volunteer is expected to be on campus on a regular basis and/or may not always be under the supervision of a school employee while on campus.
- Fingerprint clearance is required from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
