Library Reminder!

We go to the library each Friday at 1:15. Please help your child remember to bring their library books to school with them every Friday. They will not be allowed to check out new books unless the two books they checked out the previous week have been returned.

This week in Language Arts

-We will be identifying the beginning, middle, and end of a story.

-We will be using and identifying adjectives within complete sentences.

-We will be participating in shared readings of poems, songs, and big books.

  • We are going to be talking all about money this week!
  • We will identify and discuss the value of a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter.
  • We will identify the heads and tails side of coins.
  • We will identify the features of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters.
  • We will count amounts of money less than $1.00 using these four types of coins.

Science and Social Studies

  • We are going to continue discussing the properties of pebbles, sand, and silt.
  • We will be participating in science rotations amont the four first grade teachers.
  • This Wednesday will be High Tech High Touch day! You will not want to miss this! A scientist will visit our class for an in-school field trip as we investigate pebbles, stones, and rocks even more!

Thursday and Friday

I will not be at school this Thursday and Friday. Mrs. Jean Guidry, a retired Austin teacher, will be my substitute. I know that the students will be in good hands with Mrs. Guidry, and will learn so much! Mrs. Guidry will give our weekly dictation spelling test this Friday.
