Institute Day Recap
Thank you all so very much for your attention and participation in today's professional development. I know that there was a lot of information shared in a short amount of time.
I want to recap the end of the meeting. It was difficult to discuss with everyone at the end of the meeting, but many shared ideas. As discussed, the tier 1 team will meet as planned on November 20th to determine our next steps. I verified that each group had a tier 1 team member with notes. In addition, one person shared information about wanting to add to our matrix information about routines for regulation. As you know, Donna has already provided some information about self care at our last staff meeting. We will continue to expand upon that topic, too. Please share any other input with any of our tier 1 team members.
Thanks for a great morning!
Please save your aluminum tabs!
Thank you all so much for helping us give back to such a wonderful organization!!! Please feel free to send home pop tops with Raegan or Kolton or let me know if containers are full and I can come get them. THANK YOU!

Big Hollow Family in Need
Good Morning Everyone,
I am sorry to bother you during this very busy time. I know you are all still processing your parent/teacher/student conferences and trying to complete your report cards. However, I would like to ask for your help on behalf of one of our Big Hollow families. I have a little boy in my room whose father as Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It was in remission, but has come back. The father has been unable to work for several months and is receiving treatments to battle his cancer. Since he is unable to work, the household income has been cut substantially and they find themselves in need of assistance. So of course I told her let us know how our awesome Big Hollow Community could help and we would do everything we could do to assist their family. She said what she really needed at this time are warmer clothes for her kids. She has a 6 year old boy in my class and she also has a 15 year old son. If there is any way possible you could help this family out, it would be greatly appreciated. The boy in my class wears 7-8 in pants and shirts and his shoe size is children’s 11 or 12. The mom said her 15 year old son wears 2x (adult sizing) in shirts and sweaters. He wears XL in athletic type pants and a size 38 in regular pants. His shoe size is an adult size 10. Both boys like to wear those athletic type pants, but whatever you can give would be so appreciated. I will put a bin/box in the primary teacher's lounge with a label marked “Donations for Big Hollow Family”. You can place any of your donations there. Please know that this family is really struggling financially and all she asked for help with is some warm clothes for her children. Please keep this family in your thoughts as they go through this difficult time.
I thank you so much for your time and thank you in advance for all your help and support.
Have a great day,
Janine Vasica

Report Card Comments
PD during prep time
If you are given the opportunity for prep time make-up, it's completely ok to switch up your lesson plans and allow your students time on Lexia or Dreambox or MyOn. I know that Jen works really hard to give as much notice as possible, but sometimes there just isn't much advance notice. Let me know if you have any questions.
