U School Humanities

Are you on Track? ( December 6 - December 23, 2015)

The Winter break begins December 24th ; you should make sure that you get on track or stay on track as we head into the new year.


Students who are not on track with their assignments will remain at school during Independent Learning time on Wednesdays to make up any missing work.


On December 18th 9th and 10 Grade students will share their story slams, myths and graphic comics at our U School Humanities Story Festival. Stay tuned for more details.

Huge shoutout to Raymon O., Anthony J., Wilmont D., Kris S. and Ly'Jhia S. who have made serious progress on their own myths in 9th grade Humanities. Look forward to reading MANY more creative and important myths in the weeks to come.


Awesome Sauce & Kudos to 10th graders, Argelis M, Anthony R, Saryna T for the amazing discussion about whether ancient Athenain (Greece) was truly democracy.


Also BIG shout out to Tyteena G, Cache S, Diamond T for exhibiting the U School value of persistence by meeting goals they set for themselves last week.


Finally, Cool Beans Shout Out for U School's Chess Club and players Kris S. Mathew L and Ramon V for their victories at the recent ASAP Chess Tournament.

Deadline Dec. 9th Scholastic Art and Writing

Deadline to submit your art and writing for scholarship and recognition is Dec 9th. See Mr Reed or visit the Lit Lab for more information.

Coming Attractions...

For our next unit, students will explore the question of who controls our destinies. Through studying The Odyssey and exploring world religions, students will form their own opinions about what matters more, fate or free will.

The Open Windows program continues to meet in Ms. Date's room after school every other Tuesday. We have had some awesome meetings and trips so far, and look forward to planning our projects for the spring in the coming meetings. Our next meeting is Tuesday December 15 from 4:00 to 5:30. We would love to see you there.
